About Me
Hi I am Lisa Lazo and thank you so much for stopping by.
I am a singer/songwriter/composer, but not limited to those titles, of course. I've been a music lover all my life. I grew up with my parents favorite radio stations listening to music like Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Blondie, Olivia Newton John, Madonna, etc. Fortunately, I did have cool friends who introduced me to music that really moved my soul like Bjork, Portishead, Massive Attack, The Pixies, Sonic Youth, Tori Amos etc. I mainly write in the genres of Pop, Rock and Electronica. I have been doing a lot of collaborations over the past year so my musical pallete is definitely expanding. I have 7 new releases coming. Six of them were recorded in LA with my co-writer/best friend Mike Dawson, and Grammy Award winning recording engineer, Chris Bell. These songs were tracked at The Hive, 311's personal studio-what a cool, honorable experience that was and to also be working with an incredible rhythm section! It is a true blessing to have the opportunity and ability to create, collaborate, and record music in this lifetime!
The songs "Wake Up" and "You Want Me To Love You" are a little bit of a departure for me in the sense that I didn't do any electronic programming for these. I actually worked with friends/studio musicians and hired an engineer/co-producer, Eric Zimmermann, to work out these songs with me in the studio. I love these songs because they are very telling of what I was going through in 2005. I would actually like to remix these songs soon so that they will have an edgier, electronica feel to them.
The track, Just Do It, I wrote quickly because I knew I was going to the WMC. The lyrics were inspired by my experiences working with Granite and Phunk a year earlier (that music still has not been released:() I worked with Saleem Razvi and Brian Guerra to get the drum programming you hear. The WMC in Miami this year was incredible and certainly life changing! It is definitely worth going to if you create, dance, love to meet fun people, and/or work in some way in the music industry.
There is so much more to say, so I guess I will have to start blogging soon...thanks for reading...sending love your way..LL..
