Maven

I'm your average everyday sane psycho super goddess.

About Me

This is the kitchen where it all happens. Take note of my Skills as Domestic Goddess (the dishes in the sink are clean) and, yah - that's me - without the vintage sunglasses, blonde hair, and great smackers.
But don't let my mild mannered countenance and church lady like Canadian accent fool you because beneath this smiling exterior and slightly googled eye lies a Vixen...
Wait!
Strike that!
A SUPER VIXEN who wants to be a STAH!
To get to know me a little better, you'll have to come by my blogs... but here's a little primer to get you started.
Welcome to the Fabulosity known as Maven's Alternative Haven...

You Are Ernie
Playful and childlike, you are everyone's favorite friend - even if your goofy antics get annoying at times.
You are usually feeling: Amused - you are very easily entertained
You are famous for: Always making people smile. From your silly songs to your wild pranks, you keep things fun.
How you live your life: With ease. Life is only difficult when your friends won't play with you! The Sesame Street Personality Quiz

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

My Interests

This pretty much sums it all up...

Today's Mood...

Calgon... take me away...

I'd like to meet:

Kathy Griffin is one of the most Fabulous, Funny women on any list! I adore this self proclaimed Red Headed Oprah - and Lord knows if and when the world needs a replacement,

And Al Franken.
There's just something so sexy about a smart liberal in glasses!
He's good enough, he's smart enough, and doggone it, Maven likes him!

So thanks for stopping by my profile page today. If you get a chance, take a look at my blogs.

"The thing is that everyone - each of us - has a closet.

And in the end we're all just desperately searching for acceptance.

Validation that tells us it's okay to finally come out.

At heart, that's what my blog is about.

A big Towanda to reiterate that it's okay to be human. To make mistakes. To be flawed. To screw up. To feel insecure. To feel vulnerable. To be imperfect. To do dumb things. To cry at parades. To make less money. To go against the grain. Drive a crappy car. Come out as a gay man. Wear duct taped shoes. Carry extra weight. Have a few wrinkles. Love other women. Thrive with a disability. Or get caught buying a big ass jug of wine at the liquor store.

After all, aren't we each just on our own journey home?

Music:

I love any kind of music that speaks to me in some way or tells me a story. Probably because I'm a writer. Singer songwriter pieces like A Better Place to Be by Harry Chapin, Moonshadow by Cat Stevens, or New York's not my Home by Jim Croce are all the kinds of songs I would resonate to. In fact, I would probably like anything by those three...

Favourite song by Jim Croce: Workin at the Carwash Blues. Turn it way up, I'm singin along!

Favourite artists include Sting, Martina McBride, Bette Midler, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Janis Joplin, The Beatles... the list is really too long so I'll leave it at that.

Movies:

It's too difficult to pin point specific movies because I always end up missing one.

A few favourites, however, include:

Christmas Vacation, Almost Famous, Terms of Endearment, School of Rock, Heavy Metal, Pulp Fiction, Sin City, Donnie Brasco, Devil's Advocate, Forrest Gump, An Officer and a Gentleman, Platoon, Bi-centennial Man, AI, The Colour Purple, The Way We Were, The Changeling, The Others

Television:

I love tv.

Books:

I love books and read way too much to choose favourites.

Heroes:

From Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe..."I never get mad, Mrs. Threadgood. Never! The way I was raised it was bad manners. Well I got mad and it felt terrific! I felt like I could beat the shit outta all those
