Kia Ora. Mission Gizzard formed in 2001 (while still at high school) as a three piece, but wanting to improve their sound and image they were forced to recruit the only person to attend their lunchtime concerts.With their line-up complete, Mission Gizzard went about cementing their sound. It was while hard at work at a band practice/meditation session that they found their niche. Using a unique fusion of pop, first-wave emo, rock and punk Mission Gizzard found their sound.Jimm and Jordan, the groups songwriters, began the process of carving out their songs using sweat, blood, comic books, catchy melodies and quirky yet powerful arrangements. They can be compared to a modern-day songwriting team of McCartney and Lennon, The incredible wit of Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar, and the crime-fighting equivalent of Batman and Robin.Mission Gizzard has been gigging around Auckland and abroad (North Island) in Floppys undersized van for the last two years. Over the last two years they have had the honor and privilege of playing with many rad bands such as Wash, 48May, Stardrunk, Rival State, The Rabble, Sommerset, The Bleeders, Bolbox Rex and Steriogram to name but a few.Mission Gizzard has one independently released E.P (although they did receive many offers), recorded at Aucklands illustrious Studio 203.The future for Mission Gizzard holds more gigs and more recordings, cardboard cutouts, action figures, ambitions to appear on numerous episodes as guest band on programs such as The Simpsons, South Park and The O.C.
