A truth: "In the insane world, a sane man must appear insane." 1/2 Polish, 1/2 Irish, I've lived up to the stereotype of being a "stupid drunk" many nights (& days). I took 3 trips to Europe to play soccer, during high school years (1986-90). When East Germany still existed & the Berlin Wall was more than a tourist stop. I've never obtained a college degree, altho my twin brother graduated from Brandeis. Up to now, I've been pretty nonchalant about my future & life in general. Due to my own fears, insecurities, I've problems in life where the ways I express myself tend to be extremely harsh, abrasive even if that's not the intention, but always truthful. Typically, I just didn't want anyone to know me & I've been an asshole for no reason other than I can. I'd like to think I'm on my way to being comfortable & open around people, a work in progress if ever there is one. Due to an event 9/17/04 that almost resulted in my death, I am reevaluating my life. I'm just now realizing my life has been rather erratic & bizzare, certainly entertaining. I have a very wide variety of friends, the millionaires, the poor, the junkies, the transients, the assholes, the poets, the idiots, the saints, the sinners, the geniuses & the slackers (I seem to encompass all but junkie). It would be nice to hear from anyone, wether I know you or not outside the virtual world. I'm open to contact from varying & different angles (up, down, in front, behind, around..). I find myself asking myself "what's so funny about peace, love & understanding?" w/out a wise ass reply, even a smirk... maybe because I'd be talking to myself confirming that insanity rumor (either way, only I truly know). I'm compassionate, caring & soothing. I like other people to depend on me...in fact, I don't feel right unless I'm helping someone out. underneath it all, I feel the burden of everyone's problems. without my guidance, I fear that many people's worlds would fall apart. I like to feel in charge, even if it brings me a lot of stress.

Extroversion - medium extroversion. I'm not the life of the party, yet I do show up for the party. sometimes I'm full of energy & open to new social experiences, but I also need to hibernate & enjoy my "down time."
Conscientiousness - medium conscientiousness. I'm generally good at balancing work & play. when I need to buckle down, I usually get tasks done, but I've been known to goof off when I know I can get away with it.
Agreeableness - I've very, very low agreeableness, although my self interest is aligned with others. in general though, I feel that people are not to be trusted & I'm skeptical that anyone else really feels differently.
Neuroticism - I've medium neuroticism. I'm generally cool & collected, but sometimes I panic. little worries or problems can consume me, draining my energy. my life is pretty smooth, but there's a few emotional bumps I'd like to get rid of.

a clockwork orange is perhaps one of the most bold works of literature ever penned. charts a lengthy although ultimately circular change of character, concerned woth a protagonist who is truly 'fucked up'. despite the attempts at the outside world to change him, he remains as he is, chaotic, passionate, vivid & robust - I'm the proud & destructive clockwork orange.I'm a wild person, often driven by impulse & prone to ignore rationality over raw passion. I'm intelligent, & well aware of the weaknesses of my personality, but I'm also aware of the strengths. where others are prone to indecision & lack originality, I'm bold, imposing & often artistic. I can be violent, not neccessary physically, but certainly emotionally - imposing my will on others through aggressive dominance.clockwork & orange aren't words which traditionally go together. clockwork is a mechanical method of creating artificial movement, where an organe is an organic creation. trying to force one to work with the other will always be foolish. alex, the main character, is something of an orange, an organic person, growing & changing - even evolving - but ultimately sticking to his nature as an orange. the clockwork seems to represent the world around him, trying to change him & force him into a certain way of life - perhaps for his own good - but ultimately doomed to fail.the freedom of individuals to make choices becomes problematic when those choices undermine the safety & stability of society & in a clockwork orange, the state is willing to protect society by taking away freedom of choice & replacing it with prescribed good behavior. in this world, both the unfettered power of the individual & the unfettered power of the state prove dangerous. alex steals, rapes & murders merely because it feels good, but when his violent impulses are taken away, the result is equally as dangerous, simply because freedom of choice, a fundamental element of humanity, has been taken away.
