Star Sludge

Cos we can...Star Sludge is a four piece pop punk something from Brisbane.....with the ambition to push James Blunt off the airwaves (well, every band should have that ambition)...I've added Hinder to that list....well I Googled my old band Escape From Toytown and crikey....found the old Toytown CD selling somewhere for $32 so if you want one send $5 to Trash Video, 73 Vulture St. West End QLD 4101 Australia and I'll chuck a burnt StarSludge CD in as well and send it....If you want to see us play maybe save up 50 bucks and get us in your loungeroom...that's where we practice.....Just did recordings of Basketball Story, Sing, Boredom Line and the cover Slide, expect them out next year. Also did demo recording's last year of 'How Do You Stop A Revolution You Don't Understand?' and 'Love Should Be This Loud', a tune that happened because of Brisbane's crippling noise restrictions.......They are up on mp3.com.au and here............ We added our older wierd home recordings to the This Loud CD (42mins) so Mostly','Boredom Line' and 'The Day I Hit the Table' (I recorded the song and then blacked out later in the arvo hitting my table and waking up in a puddle of blood) are the other normal songs on it....at the link...'Mostly' is in Stumpy from Trash Video's short movie 'Bluebirds of Peace and Destruction.........Stump drums in Alien Virus our side band.....check his Weng Weng adventures via the Trash Video link below.... Couple of bands in Sydney 1984....Act in Brisbane from 84-88...Alien Virus from 1988 to now...Acid World from 92-95...Queer from 92 to 94 (go to mp3.com.au for that very sad story)....Escape from Toytown from 1995-2004...Star Sludge from 2004.....I guess there's 4ZZZ history, Napalm Sticks to Kids by Alien Virus got in to the Hot 100 about 6 years in a row from 91, Acid World was number 3 in 92 and 93 with 6 songs in 93, Escape from Toytown was number 1 in 1996 with Fish and Chip bitch from Ipswich (Not my best song, never meant to be a no.1).....I was 4ZZZ treasurer in 1988 and what a miserable year that was....Did announcing from 1987-96...and the news show 95-96...I did the live to airs 1990-91 and ran the Treasury Hotel with Heather from Acid World and Rollo from Blowhard from 91 to 93 when Rollo took over, we put bands like Madmen (Tim Screamfeeder's band) Zooerastia (Quan from Regurgitator's band) Grim Ripper's (Geoff from Sixfthick's band) and Custard's first Brisgig if I remember right but never put them on again cos they wanted all the door money. We put on Dreamkiller's first gig but they were naughty and spraypainted the venue...If you're curious about why bands like Acid World and Alien Virus were so political I was a seven year old when we moved from Brisbane to Northern Ireland in 1972, we landed in Donegal the day before Bloody Sunday when British paratoops shot dead 13 protester's and so we moved in to Derry two weeks later as the IRA started their bombing campaign.....In the '80's in Brisbane, Act the band was also raided 7 times, woohoo, thanks Joh......Apart from that we have a jolly album to record soon.......covers we do are Slide by 'Superette' a mid-90's NZ band (now Eskimo, check our friends below) and Baudelaire by 'And you will know us by the Trail of the Dead....All our wierd stuff is up on mp3.com.au.....plus check out Doug's ambient electro stuff at the Orange People link (in our friends).....CU's Cal
