About Me

The Philosophy of T. For me, SOUL music is not just a style, like faded jeans and a sampled fender rhodes electric piano. Like LOVE, SOUL is a frame of mind. IT is the poetry that ignites the spirit and separates art from fluff. Balls to bones, SOUL is the essential element that connects us all. So Come on and hang with me for a minute and let's fall in love with music again. Music inspired by something deeper than dollars and cents . . . Did I hear a choir of kindred spirits say AMEN? lol). Who We Be. . . A Brief History I am an independent artist who makes soul and funk recordings. At fifteen I was produced by Bobby Taylor, (legendary Motown producer and former lead vocalist of the Vancouvers). By 17, I had worked and played with the likes of Barry White, Chaka Khan, Chuckii Booker, legendary producer/arrangers Jerry Peters and David Crawford, and members of the Jacksons. As a performer and bandleader, I have shared the same bill with artists like Meshell NdegeOcello, The Isley's, Squeeze, members of Earth Wind and Fire, the Emotions and Billy Cobham to name a few. In 2007, fully formed, I make music from the soul, to honor the greats, and to in turn do something great. FOR BOOKING: send an email with the word BOOKING in the subject line. to: [email protected] Soul on Sunset-- A while back, after discussing the state of the music industry with some musician friends of mine, (some you may know like Rosie Gaines, {formerly with Prince}, Tata Vega {The Color Purple, Stevie Wonder}, Frank McComb, and others), I realized that many people have forgotten why music is so important. Music is more than just a quick way to a paycheck for up and coming artists, or simple background noise for fans while they drive. . . it is the soundtrack for our lives. . . Anyway, these conversations quickly became something that needed to be captured and shared with a larger audience, so Soul on Sunset-- was born. It is a uniqe event recorded live before an audience (for later broadcast) that opens up a conversation between great artists from the past and present so they can tell their stories, and help to excite fans about soul music all over again. I host the panels at a number of upscale Los Angeles venues .. Wednesdays. This season we will be taking the show to the next level so watch for upcoming events here. If you would like to host a Soul on Sunset event at your LA area venue, send an email to: [email protected] with HOST SOUL ON SUNSET in the subject area. Enough words then. . .let's make music. ;-) In Soul T.
