Reading, going to the cinema, the Human Rights Campaign, going to the theatre, (love musical theatre and musicals, although I can't sing worth a damn) working with theatre students at my alma mater, hanging with friends. I also developed an interest in philosophy some years ago, and I love dance (I'm not a trained dancer, but I trained in movement). I'm a Fosse-Verdon-Reinking-Rivera-Vereen fanatic. I love art as well, my favorite painter / artists are Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Jacob Lawrence to name a few.
Any and everyone. I'm not particular. But, for specificity's sake, passionate and ambitious beings who aspire to inspire.
I am a film score aficionado to the nth degree (I was actually training for a career in film scoring before I became an actor), but I have a strong appreciation for and listen to all types and genres, from jazz to classical to new age and many others. I'm a big fan of '70's R&B and soul (Isaac Hayes and Barry White especially), right down to Pharrell Williams (both as artist and producer).
Too many to even list--I love everything from art-house, foreign, and horror to thriller, action, and drama. I'm an Equal Opportunity Viewer. But my favorite film directors are John Carpenter, Ingmar Bergman, George A. Romero, Dario Argento, Lars Von Trier, Spike Lee, Brian De Palma, Alfred Hitchcock, John Singleton, Michael Haneke, Lucio Fulci, Luchino Visconti, Michelangelo Antonioni, Claude Chabrol, Pier Paolo Pasolini, David Lynch, Federico Fellini, George A. Romero, David Cronenberg
Don't have much of a preference here--I'm usually never home to watch prime time television, but pretty much anything that piques my interest.
Favorite authors are Robin Cook, Dean Koontz, Carson McCullers, Stephen King, Elfriede Jelinek, James Baldwin, Michael Crichton, Robert Ludlum, and Toni Morrison. I also love autobiographies/memoirs, especially of people in the arts; some of them I can sweep through in one night, and I'm a voracious reader of plays (favorite playwrights are Edward Albee, Suzan-Lori Parks, Chekhov, Schnitzler, August Wilson, Samuel Beckett, just a few of many) and any book related to theatre and the craft.
Morgan Freeman, Karen Black (she's the reason why I became an actor, and a living legend), Eleonora Duse (arguably the greatest actor who ever lived), Jerry Goldsmith, Christopher Young, Elliot Goldenthal, Howard Shore, Pino Donaggio, Mark Isham, Marco Beltrami, Basil Poledouris, Shirley Walker and many other film composers, Angela Lansbury, Amiri Baraka, Edward Albee, Don Cheadle, Terence Blanchard, Michael John LaChiusa, Ennio Morricone, Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor, Dave Chappelle, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Liv Ullmann, Ingrid Bergman, Felicity Huffman, Julie Taymor, Mary Testa, Harry Lennix, Tonya Pinkins, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Sir John Gielgud, Sir Alec Guinness, Montgomery Clift, Spencer Tracy, Mercedes McCambridge, Pam Grier, William Shakespeare, August Wilson, Kathleen Quinlan, Faye Dunaway, Daniel Day-Lewis, Isabelle Huppert, Vanessa Redgrave, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Ruby Dee, Ossie Davis, Marcia Gay Harden, Stephen Sondheim, Paul Robeson, Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington, Katharine Hepburn, Chiewetel Ejiofor, Colleen Dewhurst, Audra McDonald, Frances McDormand, Bob Fosse, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Ann Reinking, Cicely Tyson, Chita Rivera, Phylicia Rashad, Brigitte Nielsen, Catherine Deneuve, Julianne Moore, Kim Stanley, Daria Nicolodi, Angela Bassett, Liev Schreiber, Tennessee Williams, Anjelica Huston, Frances de la Tour, Beatrice Straight, Juliette Binoche, Claudia Cardinale, Samuel L.
