newHsoul featuring Supahero GoGo Starz

About Me

As far back as the early nineties, when it was still just a twinkle in the eye of J. Loverman, newHsoul was the vision of a collective. The perfect balance of the organic and the electronic; vocalists, live musicians, D.J’s, programmers, intergalactic space explorers, flame throwers, hypnotists, medicine maidens, trapeze artists and alien burlesque dancer’s all joining forces in order to present the most spectacular spectacular possible. With the release of New Soil, on the House Rules label, J. Loverman, Freamon Barney von Chavous (Barbarellaman) and Johnny “5” (The Angeltechnician) are all geared up to bring the House/Techno Opera that is New Soil to a stage near you. Loverman and Chavous came together in 2004 after a mutual friend passed Freamon a sampler of tracks that J. was working on at the time. Just four weeks after their initial conversation the two were working away in Loverman’s Amsterdam studio breathing life into newHsoul. Strongly influenced by the early days of Dance music, J Loverman and Freamon Barney von Chavous discovered themselves to be a writing team made in heaven. Born and raised in Detroit, Freamon is absolutely the essence of Soul with a serious twist. His vocals are quite rooted in Gospel and R&B music as the branches of his styling reach out toward uncharted territories to become something strange yet beautiful. Johnny “5” and Freamon met in 2000 on top of a speaker box bumping, grinding, gyrating and getting happy at one of Francois K’s Body & Soul Sunday Tea parties just months after Johnny’s arrival to NYC from Norfolk, Virginia. Johnny studied Music education at VCU and proved to be quite a remarkable and sought after Classical Opera soloist. Freamon Barney Von Chavous and Johnny “5” became The Angeltechnician and Barbarellaman, “Supahero GoGo Starz,” after coming across a glowing orb pulsating on the side of the road somewhere between Pennsylvania and Ohio on their way to Grandmother’s house. Already featured members of J. Loverman’s (Dutch song writer/producer) collective newHsoul as their alter ego’s, the two accepted the newHsoul endeavor as an opportunity to bring Superhero GoGo Starz to musical life; finally realizing their dream of performing as a team. newHsoul featuring Supahero GoGo Starz are an innovative and most captivating alliance as J. Loverman lays down the “House Rules” and Supahero GoGo Starz fall right in line and into the groove. newHsoul featuring Supahero GoGo Starz dazzle the audience, literally and are quite sexy and colourful little giants. Influenced by the shiny shenanigans of Funk, Punk and Disco’s hey day they never miss an opportunity throw on a costume and rock; rock ‘til the planet rocks. The crew is most interested in moving bodies, touching souls and recruiting in the name of Love, Peace and The Beat. newHsoul defies genres and is certainly the doorway to a new era, a new dimension of music. Open It.

Sounds Like: Early techno and House by artsist such as Detroit's "Belleville Three" (J. Atkins, K. Saunderson & D. May), Chicago's Fingers Inc. and Cajmere. The influence of U.K. acts and producers like Sly and Robbie, Bronsky Beat and Soul to Soul is strongly present in newHsoul's unique sound as well.
