Andrei Matorin is a jazz-violinist currently studying at Berklee College of Music. He has been recognized and awarded for both his performance and compositional abilities. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, he first picked up a violin at the age of six. As a child, he studied in Italy, at the Conservatoire de Geneve, and finally at the New England Conservatory throughout High School. His diverse cultural and musical background has led him to explore the realm of musical possibilities from classical to jazz, brazilian, hip hop & funk, blues, rock and almost every genre in between. As a composer, he explores what each different style has to offer in order to better understand the role of music today and how his music fits in this giant melting pot of modern sound forced upon us.
