Ed Mathews makes it to MySpace; Sun still hot.

About Me

I'm the soone to be former Co-Editor in Chief of PopImage, a comic book journalism site. My day job has me drafting in AutoCAD in a company I am part owner of. I'm President of a habanero hot sauce company called Evilhot. I also teach Political Science.I like my aquariums and will have to come back later to really fill this out, because there's not enough time in the day right now. This is not a complaint since if I had more time, I'd probably get into trouble instead.heh.I've been with my partner Matt for over 7 years.

My Interests

Comic books, Satellite Radio, videogames, and fish. Oh, and politics and hotsauce.

I'd like to meet:

Friends. Some enemies if they are interesting. Casual acquaintances. Generally, I like meeting people.

Music:

You can usually find my S-50 parked on Left of Center or Alt Nation, but tastes range from Ladytron to Johnny Cash.

Movies:

You know that movie where the guy finally gets the girl after a series of hilarious mishaps? I hate that movie. And Michael Bay could do a My Little Pony movie and at least 3 ponies would explode. I might pay to see that.

Television:

Battlestar Galactica and Blade seem to have caught my interest lately; I'm a big fan of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report. Rick & Steve: The World's Happiest Gay Couple has just moved to the top of the viewing list.

Books:

The Poverty of American Politics by H. Mark Roelofs.

Heroes:

Firemen, police officers, and truth bringers. I'd say journalists, but I'm focusing on a subset.

My Blog

Identity Crisis - Or how to bring rape into the mainstream

I encourage you to read Occasional Superheroine today. Start at the bottom and work your way up. I'll have a lot more to say about this at PopImage this month, but it reminds me of the series of que...

I think I can marry Matt now

Sort of.  In 180 days, the NJ Legislature must extend the rights and privledges of marriage either to (a) some form or civil union or (b) by adding same-sex couple to the definition of marriage.&...

A quick "heads up" to Newt Gingrich

Dear Newt Gingrich, I saw you on Fox News on Sunday talking about Mark Foley and I wanted to address something with you.  You made the comment, or comments to the effect of, that the House l...

Frederick Jackson Turner

So how does one do a class session on American Government the week of Sept. 11th and avoid talking about Sept. 11th? Focus on Frederick Jackson Turner and the frontier thesis he proposed. It's amazi...

My challenge to myself in this week's class meeting

I have decided to teach this week's session of American Government and Politics without making a reference to September 11, 2001.  I think I can do this and deflect questions about it by keeping ...

Warren Ellis Forum on Sept. 11, 2001

I don't want to type up too much today, but it would be wrong on some level to not say anything.  When we were living in Jersey City, Matt and I saw the WTC towers fall, watched as survivors made...

Neon Tetras and the Confused Guppy

So we picked up 5 neon tetras, as it is recommended that you get at least 5 of the critters since they school. They are freshwater fish and have been added to the second tank in the livingroom which ...

I have no style

Well, we're going to a party later tonight, and so first we're going shopping. I have no style, so Matt will be directing me to things that will hopefully look good on me. It's important to know our...

First post

This is my first entry on any blog. Be gentle. I taught the first day of my night course yesterday and must say that it should be a good group. They are certainly interested in the material, which ...
