I am here for Friends

About Me

I was reared among cattle and a waterfall, but gravitated toward the grimy obelisks of Ol' Lady Chicago. It's sad, really. Probably hints at something irreparably wrong with my brain, or the world, or public education, or fluoridation, or Dr. Spock. Something. Also I make some books and music. You can put things on top of them.

Click yourself silly:

Forlorn Funnies (my comics, books, and hour devouring blog)

The Holy Consumption (Chicago Cartoon Art Collective featuring Jeffrey Brown, myself, John Hankiewicz, and Anders Nilsen)

Margo Mitchell Media (Design and Illustration)

MUSIC HALL (Chicago band, an amalgam of disparate sonic junk)

ARKS (former band in which I yelped and punched guitars)

THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW OR SOON:

My Interests

waffles, piccolo, that thing over there that looks sort of melty, Charlie Brown, sketch comedy, new wave music, well delivered jokes, Mr. Rodgers, don't you think that looks sort of melted?, interpretive dance, seriously I think that's actually on fire, I think we should leave, doesn't that smell weird to you? No? Well, fuck it, I'm leaving.

I'd like to meet:

People who don't punch, other than with wit. Wind sock designers. Paisley purists. Anglers! Anyone named Chumley. "Bring on the badminton!" That tooth.

Music:

Six Finger Satellite, Talking Heads, DJ Shadow, Joy Division, Bird and Flower, Brainiac, Lazy, Devo, Guided By Voices, Aimee Mann, Beck, Swirlies, Cibo Matto, The Fall, Enon, Missy Elliott, Trans Am, Magnetic Fields, The Kinks, Jurassic 5, Tchaikovsky, Kraftwerk, Jon Brion, Johnny Cash, AFrames, Cat Power, Rufus Wainwright, Brian Wilson, The Buggles, The Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth

Movies:

The Straight Story, Network, Harold and Maude, The Last Detail, Together, Barry Lyndon, The Life Aquatic, Logan's Run, Creature from The Black Lagoon, Annie Hall

Listen! My mouth opens for an hour. What slithers out?
