Aged 9, his mother took him to the doctor with whiplash from moshing to 'Stray Cats'. Dave Ezra (Juxtachrome) loved his music, but it wasn't until long after his neck had repaired that he started writing.
He seemed to move around a lot. Coming and going between Merseyside and North Wales (his folks bought back the exact same house in Wales). Days were spent almost exclusively by the side of Rich, one of his two older brothers. Rich was quite partial to trouble, but Dave was more of an observer than an accomplice to Rich's mischief. Besides, the younger Ezra was happier roaming his own mind. Drawing was good. Many hours were spent with pencil and pad.
His two-time home in Flintshire was right next to a golf course. On leaving school, Dave took on a job as trainee professional in the sport but it wasn't for him and meanwhile he'd acquired an acoustic guitar. Melody, harmony and the lawless world of songwriting - absolutely smitten! He and 4 friends formed 'The Carlton Compound Overhaul'. (see Nick Dawson in friends below, he played guitar) It was sadly short-lived.
Between 1998-2001, Ezra studied at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Here he was taken by everything from moronically hard techno to Bulgarian Choral Music. Dave has jumped at all things musical since graduating: workshops, session singing, soundtracks, writing and gigs. Having recently left Brighton, he's returned to Liverpool. More to follow.
