Fire Lotus Society

Breakbeat baggy punk rockers FIRE LOTUS SOCIETY were formed in the long hot tecate' tinged summer of 2004. The band consisted of former Downtown Kicks Alex Baker and Jeff Hawkes as well as veteran club DJ Hansel "Hansoul" Tato. Having a brief flurry of activity as "Thee Afterglow" the band retreated into the studio, refined their sound and emerged as FIRE LOTUS SOCIETY in the fall of 2004. Playing a handful of memorable gigs and recording some now classis tracks like "Jungleman" and "Good Time" the FLS worked and refined their sound. In the summer of 2005 they reemerged as a live act, now with Luis "Mato" Vasquez on percussion and Jef "C-Word" Cosgrave on bass. the results were spectacular with the FLS exploding live in venues all over Hollywood, Silverlake and even San Francisco. By the end of the year work was begun on a new demo. However it was all not to be with the band starting out 2006 falling apart at the seams. Electric Jeffrey was the first to go, quitting in January. The band played one more gig before Vasquez moved to San Francisco. Baker, Tato, and Cosgrave continued playing together long enough to cut one more classic "The Devil" before Baker formed "Black Sugar" a rock band, and Tato formed "Su Blah Nu Nu" an electro dance pop band. Cosgrave still works with both of them. As for the future of the FLS? It currently remains a question mark. Hear the music. It's a reminder of a simpler time when men drank more Tecate' than was previously thought possible.
