In 2003 this British Death metal quartet Tortured were formed for a mutual love of technical music: with a dream to inject new life into Death metal, as English greats such as 'Carcass, Iron Madien' had done in the past. Tortured however were going to go about it any much more ferocious manner, incooporating elements of technical death thrash, and brutal death grind, mixed with roaring wirl wind vocals to produce a merciless, sadistic sound.
The members themselves had been playing together for around 4 years producing heavy thrash metal under the previous name 'Tortured Soul' whilst listening to legandry greats such as 'Slayer, Pantera, old skool Metallica etc.' whom had really helped pioneer and shape the band for the direction they move today. Despite already producing an aggressive sound, the band felt their were limits as far as speed and technicality were conserned, and a darker approach to new material was taken.
The notorious death thrash scene in Europe; which had already produced their own legends with 'At The Gates, The Haunted Carnal Forge, brutal death metal from Poland such as Vader Yattering Decapitated' inspired the band along with equally inhumane bands from the U.S ' Cannibal Corpse, Vile'. The band felt their was room for more development in their music, and took it under their wing to produce ferocious choppyness with gut wrenching break downs, and sheer technical brilliance.
At such a young age the band are recording their first full length albulm after many years in the dark recording, developing and enhancing their sound. 'Hang'in Around On A Meathook' will be avaliable mid 2006 from 'Surgical studios' Be Prepared For The Butchery!

"To kick off the days death metal shenanigans, we had Readings Tortured playing half an hour of a grisly form of Carcass worship. The sound was fairly murky, but this probably boosted the gory feel of the songs. The twin guitars and vocals of Dec Dyett and Dave Wells were very impressive, and provided a nice display of technicality throughout the likes of Hanging Around On A Meathook. At an average age of 19 to 20, these lads showed that experience is not a factor in what makes a band great - the enthusiasm and intensity of the band was astounding. The drumming of Sam Jones showed a maturity beyond his age, ranging from the blast-ridden Unnecessary Surgery to the double kicking of Smell The Worm. There was a nice mixture of speed and grooves throughout the set, and the last couple of songs of the set lent a more epic feel to proceedings, containing lengthier solos and sweeter sounding melodies. It was all rather impressive and what little crowd there was had been suitably impressed."
