About Me

All Change at Buttercuts Central
As we move into 2008, Buttercuts is changing. Fresh from a year–long hibernation, the Buttercuts camp has re-configured and is ready to cut Butter once more.
The core values of musical integrity and not bowing to mainstream demand remain the same but a new management/A&R team aim to take Buttercuts in new musical directions. We’ll be focusing on promoting and releasing the music we love - music which is soulful, well produced and forward-thinking.
Broadly speaking, future soul, jazz, afrobeat, hip hop, reggae & dubstep are genres we are interested in - but this is by no means an exhaustive list. We’re kinda broad minded up in here so don’t go trying to fit us in those holes that you put your Pigeons in.
The coming year will see a diverse range of single releases from the Buttercuts stable. These singles (the majority of which will contain remixes for added interest) are all about shining the light on artists we feel deserve recognition and showing you good people what we’re dealing with musically. Once we’re all friends and everythings nice, we’ll be blessing you with some longer playing projects, club-nights and more.
Keep checking back for sounds that are forward… And subscribe to our newsletter if you haven’t done so already – there’s going to be news.
THE PEOPLE:

Alain (aka Cultcam) is The Dictator, Andwhy (aka Buttafingaz) is The Treasurer, and Paul (aka UncleP) is The General [dogsbody]!
Plus there's new forces aboard as we enter the 2008 - A&R and management is taken over by Tina (um...no alias) and Duke Etienne (both of HeadsHigh collective).

In the past, Buttercuts has offered home to the following artists:
The Return of Dr. Octagon
Joe Driscoll
fbcfabric & reindeer
The Pistachios

Our ears are open to pretty much any kind of music, and we're always up for checking peoples demos. Check the Buttecuts website for details of where to send demos (www.buttercutsrecords.com). Please don't get offended if we don't reply - we're just so busy:o( All the more you really gotta make your shit stand out! THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR CRAP DEMOS in this day and age of super technology. Mind you - we would prefer a slightly dodgy recording that oozes vibe as opposed to a super slick number with no vibe at all.
As it goes - artists don't really need record labels the way they used to. In fact, we are much more into the idea of hooking people up where we can and creating artistic alliances. Kind of a 'you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours' approach. We just want to stay involved in pushing great music out there on every level.
So Mums and Dads, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives and all the rest of you animals too, we welcome you to the Buttercuts Records experience.
If you want to ask anything at all, please feel free to message us anytime.
Peace. Love. Sex. Music.

THE BUTTERCUTS ETHOS

We work on a very personal level with all of our acts and choose them because we believe they offer music that is honest and soulful, and not another hash of what is already in the mainstream.  W...
