sunday so gloomy

About Me

"SIAN SOFIA ( http://www.sianrathore.tk ) has to be the discovery of the night. Recently turned away from a booking for being not being old enough to sup ale, it was a cruel twist that no-one saw or heard her talent that night. A beautiful voice, star struck, crystal clear and fuelled by angsty lyrics and thoughtful melodies. Sofias tunes are brilliant enough, but the heart wrenching and amazing cover of There Is A Light That Never Goes Out is possibly the absolute highlight of the night So good that the words And if a double-decker bus, Crashes into us, To die by your side, Is such a heavenly way to die may well just have been written by her. Morrissey deserves to hear it !"
"Sian Sofia www.myspace.com/talesfromthenorth her songs are delicate with a very melodic almost Bjork maturity in their delivery. There's a vulnerability, a detectable tremble in His Gallic Skies - used to good effect given the songs portayal of the uselessness in lecturing a close, drugs dependent friend to face their truths .She's Poison is boardering on a 21st Century Mary Hopkins getting smashed with Cher {gypsy Tramps & Thives era} while slagging off the local/town's bitch. Worries is recorded in a whisper delivery which makes you feel warmed by her lament at your absence across a table littered with her empty wine bottles and brimming ash trays. It's Over is the weakest of the 4 tracks as its a predictable tail of a couple's differences and break up.From Burnley and new to me I look forward to hearing her live and other material at The Attic, Accrington 14th Spetember. £2 admission"
Sian Sofia's acoustic music is coloured by fingerpicked ballads and the songs that tug at your heartstrings the sort of thing that lights up a quiet moment and explores the emotion, often with a wry smile..
SIAN SOFIA makes a welcome return and her lilting voice at first suggests an air of innocence, But listen carefully to the lyrics of one song and theres a shocking tale of drugs, love gone awry and tense emotions. Apparently she almost refused to play it, but There Is A Light That Never Goes Out was given another special airing fantastic. Sian Sofia is a massively refreshing presence on the scene.Making her third appearance at the Electric Circus, SIAN SOFIA still manages to captivate the crowd with introspective gems like “She's Poison” that are brimming with a clever vitriol, as her voice in stark contrast floats beautifully over the energetic strums. Elsewhere though, the sensitive pluck of strings and infectious tones provide a glacial innocence that has all of this worldly wisdom lurking below. An impeccable and spine tigling reworking of Morrissey’s “Suedehead” leaves plenty of hushed gasps in the intimate confines of the solo area.Myspace For Girls Only - MyGirlySpace.com
