About Me

"Well rested but not out of touch, Luscious Jackson singer/guitarist Gabby Glaser fuses garage rock and funk with touches of ethereal pop on her first solo album since the group's breakup in 2000... And when Glaser tosses in some reverb, wah-wah guitar, and vocal distortion, she creates a well-rounded, enjoyable jumble." - Rob O'Connor
HARP
"Former Luscious Jackson leader Glaser comes on with a hip-shake worthy of Shocking Blue-winningly raunchy, a lil' silly, and fun. Headnodding earworms abound on Glaser's solo debut, which mostly retains LJ's slightly trippy liquid vibe and burbling electro frizzle... Gimme Splash is a compelling signal that Glaser's creative future is as bright as her past." - Dennis Cook

"Glaser finally strikes out on her own with this fuzzy, dirty, and sexy debut." - Dan Nishimoto
BLOG CRITICS
"Glaser has not lost any of the groove and sultry vocals that were part of what drew me and many others to Luscious Jackson, particularly on tracks like 'Fruit Is Sweet.' The fuzzy bass pounds relentlessly through a non-stop dance floor groove that is heightened by Glaser's rich and low vocals... it is the perfect album for kicking back in your lawn chair while soaking up the summer sun. Few musicians are able to pull off what it takes to create that atmosphere. Glaser happens to be one of them." - Anna Creech
THE ADVOCATE
"Throughout the 11-song set is muddy and lo-fi, ideal for blasting on blown car stereos. But don't mistake that sloppiness for lack of attention; it just adds more grit to her playful originals. Opener 'Spirit of Long Island,' with its catchy guitar licks and simple chorus cries out for a poolside sing-along, while the retro 'Fruit Is Sweet' will get even the staunchest discophobe dancing." - Kurt B. Reighley

BIOGRAPHY
Gabby Glaser founded musical group Luscious Jackson with her old friend Jill in the early 90's. They combined their love of rock and roll, early rap, 70's funk, dub, and whatever else they felt like throwing in to create a sound all their own. Starting with looped beats, live guitar riffs, samples, and sloppy keys, they completed their demo.
They played a couple of shows with just the 2 of them and a DAT player but decided it'd be far better to have a live band and found both the great Kate Schellenbach to play drums and Vivian Trimble on keys.
Their demo got into the hands of their friend Mike D. of the Beastie Boys and he and the rest of the boys asked them to be the 1st band to be signed to their new label,"Grand Royal". With Gabby's mother's teenage boyfriend on the cover of their 1st ep ( and a bottle of colt 45 between his legs), "In Search of Manny"was released.
Soon after they were booked on the Lollapalooza tour and things really started taking off. They played with loads of fantastic bands throughout their career, toured around the world, and released three more albums. After a great run, they decided to call it a day in 2000.
Since then, Gab's been writing plenty of songs and jamming with various people. Most recently, she's teamed up with three phenomonal musicians with whom she's played some fun shows in NYC with and recorded an album's worth of songs. The line- up is Sammy Siegler (Nightmare of You, Rival Schools, CIV) on drums, Guyora Kats on bass, Ian Love (Rival Schools, Cardia) on lead guitar, and Gab herself on vocals and guitar. See the 1st blog for detailed information about the guys and what they're currently up to.
