My favorite classic rock artists are the Beatles, David Bowie, Clash, Doors, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Roxy Music, the Who and Yes. In concert, I've seen Yes five times, Jethro Tull three times, Led Zeppelin twice, and dozens of other acts. My first concert was Cream in 1968.
Movies:
2001: A Space Odyssey, AI, Alien series, Blade Runner, A Clockwork Orange, Hellboy, Hero, I Robot, King Kong, Lord of the Rings series, Matrix series, Minority Report, Pirates of the Caribbean, Serenity, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Spiderman series, Terminator series and X-Men series. I love animated movies like Akira, Evangelion, Fantasia, Nausicca: Valley of the Wind, Spirited Away, Steamboy and most Disney animation.
Television:
The only television shows I watch are on educational TV like Nova, Nature and American Experience. I've never had cable; in fact our house is probably the only house in Oklahoma City that is not wired for cable.
Books:
I love hard science, near-future speculative fiction authors: A. A. Attanasio, William Gibson, Bruce Sterling, Neal Stephenson, Wil McCarthy. I read a fair amount of fantasy fiction as well; J. R. R. Tolkien wrote my favorite book, The Lord of the Rings. I've read books by Rachel Caine, Bradley Denton, Stephen R. Donaldson, Tim Powers, Caroline Spector, Martha Wells and many others.
Heroes:
Astronauts, Audubon, anti-war activists, Brady Campaign, Jimmy Carter, environmentalists, Gandhi, Habitat for Humanity, Martin Luther King, John Lennon, Carolyn Novotny-Anderson, Carl Sagan, Special Olympics and wildlife organizations.
