About Me

Somewhere during the 90's Martijn Grit discovered computers.... Combined with his passion for classic science fiction, the result had to be synth.
After working mostly for other people as producer and technician (a.o. Harm Wierda , Klaske Oenema ), Grit decided that time had come for him to retreat to his own studio and start working on his own passion; science fiction music, also known as SciFi.
Martijn Grit works with a combination of old (almoast scrappy) instuments such as a Philips organ, Elka 490, a nameless guitar (really, i don't know the type), a home made balalaika and other equipment that any 'self respecting' musician would be ashamed of, combined with a computer studio environment.(Update, I bought meself a Gretsch Syncromatic, type Bo Diddley, it's red and square)
"It is amazing how you can make a computer sound like it's analogue"
(M. Grit-2006) ;-)
It is this interesting combination of lofi and hifi that gives his SciFi an extraordinary sound, it has that warm touch of old analogue, be it created in a hitech environment.
This music is NOT inspired by Hollywood films, it IS inspired by the real classic sci-fi, like Solaris (not the american remake) and 'the past through tomorrow'.
Enjoy.
Thanks to David Lee Anderson for the background Art!

A BRIEF HISTORY OF
GRITSCIFI

At the age of twelve Grit started playing the harmonium in his parents living room. His parents then decided to move the harmonium to the attic, wich was beneficial for both parties:-).
Later he started playing guitar and bass. When he went to university, he got his first electronic organ from a friend as a gift, and was sold at once.

After some time of 'doing the Pink Floyd thing' he wrote his first, and last, classical piece called 'Zundapp Sonate' and then moved on to minimalistic organ music (pieces like 'mostly D-minor') and soundscaping (stuff like 'dreams of armadillo's').

And now he is doing the thing he really likes: SciFi
Sounds Like: GritSciFi is a science fiction music project that sounds like the soundtrack of our future dreams........

No M.I.B., just real sci-fi!

On this Space I will post every new song I make in the process of creating the "THE PAST TROUGH TOMORROW" album.
Enjoy.......
