Clean sheets mean a lot to a guy who sleeps on the floor

About Me

I'm not a cool guy anymore, as if I ever was before..... Welcome to my world of nonsense. You've made it this far, so I guess you'd like to hear about who I am. I'm basically an old-school punk trying to fit into a world of American Idol fans and people who think Kevin Costner is a fantastic actor.I'm currently am in a bit of a transitional period: the job I've been doing for the past ten years is slowly killing me, so I'm getting ready embark upon a new career. I finally passed the certification process to become a USAC cycling coach, along with renewing all my old personal training certifications. I'm also checking out a bunch of massage schools to get certified as a Sports Massage Therapist. Now I just gotta find some athletes in need of help....Until then, I spend most of my daily hours either riding or racing my bicycle, playing soccer, riding my snowboard, hanging in the pub supporting Glasgow Celtic FC (Hail! Hail! The Celts are here!), playing video games, and hanging out at home with my girlfriend and my two dogs (a pug named Lola and some sort of mystery terrier named Arturo, or Artie for short). I also spend large amounts of time listening to Ron and Fez and Opie and Anthony on XM Satellite Radio.I'm also a Charter Member of the Sons of Ben, the group of soccer fans in Philadelphia that doesn't even have a team to root for. We finally got awarded a team, so look for us in 2010. At that point, I will regularly be at the stadium wearing my scarf and hugging other men. You know, guy stuff.I've also been busy following and supporting the West Memphis Three. Check 'em out at http://www.wm3.org....and I also hate clowns vehemently. I'm not scared of them; I just hate them. They are stupid and unfunny. Have you ever actually laughed at a clown? srsly. I also hate it when people eat while talking on the phone. F-ing disgusting.

My Interests

Road and mountain biking, soccer, Opie and Anthony, Ron and Fez, strong coffee, video games, beer, Glasgow Celtic, snowboarding

I'd like to meet:

hmmm..... I've already met a bunch of my idols: Opie, Anthony, and lil' Jimmy Norton; Henry Rollins; Glenn Danzig; Ian MacKaye; and others. I don't really have a desire to meet too many professional athletes or anything (except Hope Solo. rowr!). Most of the people I'd like to meet have already passed away: Basquiat, Joe Strummer, Darby Crash, and a few more I can't really think of right now.... Honestly, I'd really like to meet most of the friends I have on MySpace. So-called ordinary people are often much more interesting than celebrities. Then there's always the Wumpus....

Books:

Looks like we got one of them readers! You and all that long-headed book learnin'!I recently finished a book called Geek Love about sideshow freaks. It's a touching story of an albino dwarf and a flipper boy. I also just finished Our Band Could Be Your Life, which is a collection of early 80's punk band biographies. 20 years later, I'm still kickin' it old school. Jan Wilhem van de Wetering is also a pretty good author if you're into stories of modern Buddhists and unique mysteries. Anthony Bourdain's novels are also a fun read. I tried reading Way of the Peaceful Warrior, but it was an absolute piece of shit. I'm currently trying to make it through Palahniuk's Haunted, but it's a little rough....*update* Haunted has gone into the trash, so I'm now working on a self-help book called Radical Acceptance.

Heroes:

Milo Aukerman, Ian MacKaye, Moby, Shepard Fairey, Joe Strummer, Opie and Anthony, Ron and Fez, lil' Jimmy, Billy Mitchell, Henrik Larsson, Steven Gerrard, Shunsuke Nakamura, Shay Given, Artur Boruc, Vincent Gallo, Moby, Rollins, Eddy Merckx, Francesco Moser, Erik Zabel, Fabian Cancellara, Stuart O'Grady, Danny Kass, Terje Haakonsen, Nicolas Mueller, Travis Rice, Andre the Giant, my psychologist, and whatever team beats Rangers

My Favorite Week of the Year

Well, here we are in the first week of June.  The weather is lovely, and vacation time has begun.  However, the real reason I love this week is it's always the time the Pro Cycling Tour come...

Return To Racing

Don't have a whole lot of time, so I'll be brief.  I'll be staring back racing in two weeks.  I haven't pinned numbers to my back in two years, so I'm a little anxious about the whole thing....

Rough Night

Tonight, while playing soccer, one of my good friends and teammates suffered a heart attack.  It was so shocking and sad and frightening and a million other emotions all hitting me like a cannon ...

I've lost my mind

Well, mere months into my retirement from racing bicycles, I've decided to leap back into it.  I was hanging around the bike shop, and the owner said he wanted to put the team together again.&nbs...

Gato Negro

As my theme song, I have Gato Negro by the Supersuckers.  Aside from the Supersuckers being the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world, I picked it in dedication to my cat that passed away last...
