I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I like words. I don't like carrot cake. I like comic books. I don't like manga. I like film. I don't like anime. I like music. I don't like rap. I LIKE like boys. I like girls as friends. I admire education. I don't care if it's from an institution or one's life experience. I like cows. I'm a good cook. I'm a bitch. I can be a great friend. I like nicotine. I know I shouldn't. I like it when it rains. I even like winter. I like Stevie Nicks. I don't like Shakira. At. All. I like television. I'm embarrassed to admit how much of it I actually watch. I think TV-on-DVD is fantastic. I like text messaging. I like kissing. I don't like sirens. I like British comedy.

My Interests

Avid comic book collector, love music (all kinds, really, except rap -- it hurts my heart), movies, DVDs, entirely too much TV, reading, journalism, current events... I'm your basic media slut.

I'd like to meet:

Interesting people. Fellow comic book enthusiasts. Music lovers. Funny individuals.

Music:

Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, Patty Griffin, Emmylou Harris, Rhett Miller, Lucinda Williams, Dixie Chicks, Trisha Yearwood, Linda Ronstadt, Tom Petty, Elvis Costello, Starsailor, Cousteau, Glen Phillips, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Midnight Oil, Cheryl Wheeler, ABBA, The Eagles, Kelly Willis, Charlie Robison, Bruce Robison, Gary Allan, The Doors, ELO, Wings, Annie Lennox, Eurythmics, Culture Club, Thompson Twins, Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Rachael Yamagata, Milla ... the list is endless. I'll change this up from time to time.

Movies:

Tootsie, Terms of Endearment, American Beauty, The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Mrs. Miniver, Hope and Glory, A Streetcar Named Desire, Superman Returns, Batman Begins, Superman: The Movie, All About Eve, The Color Purple... again, ad nauseum is possible. These are the ones I return to the most.

Television:

Entirely too much. Really. My favorite show of all time (nerd alert) is "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." The show I miss the most is "Six Feet Under." Here's what I enjoy watching now (some in reruns): "Weeds" (the women on this show are brilliant), "Lost," "Desperate Housewives" (it makes me laugh), "Nip/Tuck," "Veronica Mars," "American Idol" (I am so embarrassed), "Will & Grace," "Soap," "Sex and the City," "Roseanne," "Angel," "The X-Files," "Law & Order: SVU" ...

Books:

The Accidental Tourist by Anne Tyler, The World According to Garp by John Irving (an absolute masterpiece), A Widow For One Year by John Irving, Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, Nightswimmer by Joseph Olshan, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb, Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin, The Partly Cloudy Patriot by Sarah Vowell, Naked by David Sedaris, and Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg. Another endless list that will be changed from time to time. Tourist stays at the top, though.

My Blog

Um....

I've never used this function before, but I figured "Why not?" I need to spend some time updating my page ... it needs some "oomph." I'm really not as boring as its current appearance would lead you t...
