About Me

Dungeon Master: Fantasy - Improv - Theatre
The Dungeon Master has great sympathy for you, since you have dropped in during our much needed "Winter Haitus". But do not be alarmed, brave adventurers!! We return in February of '08 with plenty more orcs to slay, libraries to ransack, and all of the great belly laughs you ought to expect from us!

Dungeon Master is a hybrid of Theater and Improv performed on a stage using actors as the background...and starring you as one of the main characters. Every show, a 6-person party of adventurous audience members is chosen from a list of voluntarily-submitted names before the play begins. These original characters are guided from scene to scene of a scripted episode. Although each show's original episode is scripted and rehearsed, once the audience members are involved...it is always unpredictable.

Every show is like a masquerade, as costumes are encouraged. Tickets are regularly $10, but there is a $2 discount for fun people in any kind of costume. Whether you wish to be on stage or just watch from the audience, any addition to the atmosphere is welcome.

Once we reopen in February, 2008, we will perform on the first and third Sundays of the month at the beautiful Write Act Repertory Theatre, 6128 Yucca Street, Hollywood, between Franklin and Hollywood Boulevards. Enter the free parking lot on the corner of Gower and Carlos.STARRING...

History

Dungeon Master opened in Los Angeles on September 7, 2001 at the Magicopolis Theatre, presenting a bold new adventure each week. The production has been requested at numerous gaming conventions in the LA area over the past several years and is currently appearing at Write Act Repertory Theater.

The show was originally developed at the Organic Theater Company in Chicago by veteran actor Bruce A. Young (Jurassic Park 3, Phenomenon, The Sentinel). It was first produced in 1983 and ran for four years performing for more than 30,000 people, in over 200 different episodes. Now a brand new cast and crew hopes to emulate that same experience in Los Angeles.

The ensemble company provides a living backdrop for the show. The skills required to perform in this format are many - mime, stage combat, dance, singing, improvisation and rapid costume changes are just a few of the talents used during a typical performance. Lights, special effects, music, sound, pyro-technics, laser optics and more combine with the acting ensemble to ensure a complete evening’s entertainment.

Dungeon Master is not something you can prepare for - you don't know if you'll be selected to be on stage, and when you are on stage, you don't know what's going to happen. And you’ll never know who will show up as part of the Dungeon Master ensemble. Clancy Brown (Shawshank Redemption, Starship Troopers), Tim Russ (Star Trek Voyager), Garett Maggart (The Sentinel) and Billy Campbell (Rocketeer, Once and Again) are just a few of the celebrities that have joined in the fun and mayhem. Even the audience might hold a few surprise guests, ready to rescue the Princess and save the Kingdom.

Dungeon Master is not just a show, it's an experience. Over 30,000 people have already joined the adventure - it's your world, play it!

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs. Michael and Kar3n Coleman!!
