About Me

One of my friends had this picture...it is great. It looks just like my cat, too.
What Some Main Stream Americans think of Geography(and they need to read a few books, and take a few classes):
I have a new political blog called GOVERNMENT ON TRIAL AT:
http://governmentontrial-lovefreedom.blogspot.com/
"We are living in dangerously weird times now. Smart people just shrug and admit they're dazed and confused. The only ones left with any confidence at all are the New Dumb. It is the beginning of the end of our world as we knew it. Doom is the operative ethic." - Written in the year 2000. Hunter S. Thompson
"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear -- fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, fear of getting down-sized or fired because of the plunging economy, fear of getting evicted for bad debts, or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer." Hunter S. Thompson
"Young people of America, awake from your slumber of indolence and harken to the call of the future! Do you realise that you are rapidly becoming a doomed generation?... O ignorant youth, the world is not a joyous place. The time has come for you to dispense with the frivolous pleasures of childhood and get down to honest toil until you are sixty-five. Then and only then can you relax and collect your Social Security and live happily until the time of your death." —Fearfully and disgustedly yours, John J. righteous-Hypocrite
"I'm fed up to the ears with old men dreaming up wars for young men to die in." George McGovern
"The Establishment center... has led us into the stupidest and cruelest war in all history. That war is a moral and political disaster - a terrible cancer eating away at the soul of our nation." George McGovern
"The highest patriotism is not a blind acceptance of official policy, but a love of one's country deep enough to call her to a higher plain." George McGovern
I recently became a card carrying member of the Sierra club and had in the past, just this year joined the ACLU. I feel that things need to be fought for in this country, our environment being one and the other, being the protection of our constitutional rights. We are in dire need for people to fight for these two things. The Sierra Club, tries to protect our lands and endangered species, or those that are getting to that point, and the ACLU protects our rights as citizens, by having teams of attorney's that have fought Bush at every turn and have been his(and his administration) worst nightmare. Even if they don't win in court, they keep all of the things that everyone wants swept under the carpet, out in the public eye, for everyone to know about. They HAVE made a lot of progress. Now with the help of the Supreme court, issues have been challenged, by the ACLU and now the Supreme Court mainly that having to do with due process and the rights of the Guantanamo detainees. If it wasn't for the ACLU, our rights would have been a lot easier to slowly take away from us and we wouldn't have had the media coverage we needed to know about things like wire tapping and the other issues going on. Thank you, to these people and their hard work.
U2 Lyrics - Pride (In The Name Of Love)
One man come in the name of love One man come and go One come he to justify One man to overthrow
In the name of love What more in the name of love In the name of love What more in the name of love
One man caught on a barbed wire fence One man he resist One man washed on an empty beach. One man betrayed with a kiss
In the name of love What more in the name of love In the name of love What more in the name of love
(nobody like you...)
Early morning, April 4 Shot rings out in the Memphis sky Free at last, they took your life They could not take your pride
In the name of love What more in the name of love In the name of love What more in the name of love In the name of love What more in the name of love...

About Tammy: Update on job situation: Reporter for The Globe, Section: Politics. ____________________________________________________ I am a 43 year old mother of two and domestic partner to the man in my life. I was born and for a lot of my life lived in Venice/L.A. California. I have however lived in most of the 50 states. I have been everything from a Crash and Rescue firefighter in the Navy, to a bartender. I have done a lot of different and contrasting jobs, I have even been a psych tech at a mental hospital. I have been to business school, a year graduated with honors. Been through bootcamp, engineering school and structural firefighting school in the Navy, schools were in different places in the country, and I even attended cosmetology school when I was 18. I spent nearly two years on Adak, an island off of the Aleutian Chain when I was in the Navy, it was a Naval Air Station at the time, where I drove a Crash Truck, (one of those big fire trucks that you see at the airport) and was there in case there were any trouble with our planes. Could carry a 50 pound air pack on my back, and wore firefighting gear and was second in command on my truck when we were out on the runway. I worked mostly with men.
I have over eight years of college under my belt(not counting business school), some at SLCC however primarly I have most of the years up at the U of U. I am an anthro/pscyh/criminal justice major, philosophy minor, and have my social work prerequisites mostly done. I have all the work done, to graduate on the psych and anthro, except the math to get me to psych stats and psych research, the two classes I need to graduate in both disciplines and I will be DONE. However, I have a big problem with math, and am in developmental math at SLCC. Moved back to SLCC to do this and while I was there got an interest in being a psychological profiler, so I am working on my AS in criminal Justice. I have most of my generals done, so that is a walk in the park. I only need to finish my math to be done with it all. However, this is the one thing in my life that I am not good at, I breeze through the rest of it, straight A's so far in all criminal justice classes...and I now have a tutor, another student who works in aerodynamics, and is a math wiz. Found her from a program they have. She is great. I need a tutor to get through this. I am at 990 math right now and need to be to 1050 before I can take Psych Stats and then on to psych research. I have to take 1010 math, and then 1050 before psych stats. I am very frustrated and tired from school as with all the years I have been in school, I could have been working on my PhD by now. But I sure know a lot about my majors...so at least I will be good at whatever work I can get into. I am looking at the juvenile justice system as a social worker,(criminal justice AS and psych BS can be applied to becoming a certified social worker, just have to test out), and I want to work on criminal profiling cold cases as a private consultant and also as a independent contractor. I am not exactly Quantico material here, I am 43 and could use a treadmill. I would do this on the side in my spare time. You do not have to get a degree. Rich is interested in all of this too and we might possibly work together as you really don't even need a degree to do that.
But for right now, I am working at a call center, doing customer service, for billing enrollment and pharmacy for an insurance company. I have to override C-2 level drugs, (oxycontin and others) and also have access to PHI so I had to have a Federal Background check to do it. I was working as an accounts payable clerk, about a year and a half ago at a major sporting goods chain, they had 62 stores throughout the United States, and I paid bills for Direct Store Deliveries for all of them, that was what I was in charge of. I had accounts like Coke and Pepsi, as well as some major accounts like Pure Fishing, where we spent millions of dollars a month.
The job however, had made it hard for me, going to school full time up at the U of U, as they always seemed to conflict with school, giving me more responsibilities for more work with very little pay, and I had to choose between school and work on a regular basis. They even said they wouldn't work with me, (the main big wigs there). I started out as a filing clerk, then moved to the head filing clerk,(hired on from a temp) and then an A/P clerk. They knew that I had experience in data entry, and also that I had been to business school, so they kept wanting me to do more, when I didn't want to. I had some other things happen and while going to school, just wanted a less "stressful" job, so I moved to the warehouse, where I didn't like it and it was all the way out by Kenicott Copper and I had to drive out there everyday. It didn't work out.
So here I am now after a series of jobs, that I wasn't anything permanent. I was an IP Relay operator for awhile at Sorenson for deaf and hearing impaired people, (I type very, very fast) and then I was working stocking graves at Walmart, I actually made okay money there at night and I was federally checked out as I stocked the pharmacy. But I plan at staying at this job I am at for awhile as it is kind of low stress, I have a lot of friends there and I don't want to be a supervisor, I just want to finish school, from a steady job. That has been my main goal for 8 years. I am not looking for a career, but a job, until I can graduate and then look for a career. If that makes any sense.
My life is incredibly stressful, however, I Have a good mate and life to come home to everyday and Rich is very supportive of me going to school. More you would think that most significant others are. That is because he knows the years that I have put into this, and how close I am and how things will be after all is said and done.
I love my kids, Rich, my house that I live in, my neighborhood, my pets, which includes my four parakeets, 5 cockatiels, four cats and our little betta fish. I have a vegetable garden in the summer in the backyard and totally overhauled the yard this spring, putting in shrubs, rose plants, flowers and everything else. I also brought the lawn back to life, when it was totally dead. That took a lot of work. I do all the cleaning, cooking and domestic things, for the most part, as Rich doesn't have the skill and inclination to do that, he does all the "guy stuff" around here. Mowing the lawn etc. We have a pretty traditional life like that. My life is really very good. I have chosen to make it that way. It is all in your attitude. You can be a victim your whole life and be miserable, or you can make good choices, take over control of your life and be strong. I chose the second way of doing things, after many years of being unhealthy.
I enjoy cooking, homemaking, reading, watching good movies in our family room, cuddling with our cats, analyzing everything and everyone around me. I love mexican food, good wine and being with my family members that I love. I still have my dreams and I still have my goals, despite the fact, I feel incredibly tired of school. I have just been going to long and I don't know how on earth I was doing what I was doing, working that full time job with the responsibilities I had, my son having his problems on a regular basis, financial problems of being a single mother and carrying a full course load at the U of U, I did that for a very long time like that. I don't know how I managed. I had more energy then I have now. I have only two classes a semester, for the last year and I am still tired, even from that. I guess I am just older now and have a lot of burnout.Personally, I guess I am pretty easy to get along with unless you piss me off. That takes a lot, but when you do, watch out, as I come across as someone that is pretty harmless, but I have quite the sting. Atstrology: Virgo and Libra primarily in personality makeup. However, Mars in Scorpio, watch out! People say that I am too serious all the time and I don't have a sense of humor. However, I do with the right people and at the right time, most of the time I am like Mr. Spock on Star Trek. My sense of humor is dry and sarcastic, but I can be funny. That is me in a nutshell.
