Knotty Ash is the Centre of The Universe!

About Me

I used to work in the Jam Butty Mines, but was "discovered" by the wonderful Mr Ken Dodd and now tour regularly with him. So I'm a working class Lancashire Lad who now treads the boards!(I'm proud of Merseyside! But I am by birth a Lancashire Lad!)I prefer Shandy to Big Brown Bottles of Beer!Love Panto! (Oh yes I do!). Red, White and Blue Tickling Sticks are best, but any tickling stick is a must-have item, preferably a pair!I religiously exercise my chuckle-muscle, because if you don't it shrivels up and drops off!!!..........My best mates are: Mick the Marmalizer, Little Evan, Wee Hamish McDiddy, Nigel Ponsonby-Smallpiece, Harry Cott, Nicky Nugget, Sid Short, Weany Wally and Smarty Arty. ...(Oh yeah, and Diddy David Hamilton of course!).....................KEN - ON THE LEVEL!... KEN with The Beatles!... "Tears"... "Happiness"... Tattifillarious!...

My Interests

Music Hall is my Passion. My favourite theatre is the Leeds City Varieties Theatre (sorry Liverpool!). Not keen on taxmen or vampires, and often can't tell the difference between the two!!!

I'd like to meet:

Ken Dodd fans - always lovely, warm, genuine people - "salt of the earth" every single one of them. (You can normally spot them because they have a give-away twinkle in their eyes!)..... P.S. New Friends: I accept Comedians, Ventriloquists, Ventriloquist's Assistants (DON'T USE THE "D" WORD!!!),Music Hall Acts, Theatres, Liverpool Bands, Liverpool Sites of Special Interest, Lancashire stuff, North of England items, British Royal Family, Vertically Challenged people, Cartoon Characters, Muppets and Puppets! (Anyone that promotes HAPPINESS and certain PLUMPTIOUS people)....PLEASE SEND A MESSAGE WITH A FRIEND REQUEST?

Music:

Anything and everything by Ken Dodd ("Love is Like a Violin" is a special one). "Sonny Boy" obviously. Lancashire folk music from The Fivepenny Piece to The Lancashire Hotpots. George Formby. The Beatles. Gerry and the Pacemakers. All Merseybeat.

Movies:

Magic (1978). A Hard Day's Night (1964). Hindle Wakes (1931). A Taste of Honey (1958) - that was originally gonna be called "A Taste of Jam Butty"!

Television:

"An Audience With Ken Dodd" is by far the best TV show ever, I never tire of replaying it!!!

Books:

Ken Dodd Biography. "British Music Hall: An Illustrated History" by Richard Anthony Baker. "Roy Hudd's Book of Music-hall, Variety and Showbiz Anecdotes" by Roy Hudd. "KEN DODD'S BIG DODDY BOOK HARDBACK" (1966) by Ken Dodd. "Knotty Ash: Broken Biscuit Repair Works, Jam Butty Mines, Snuff Quarry, Treacle Wells and Moggy Ranch (A Local History)" by Richard Mint.

Heroes:

Ken Dodd. Arthur Askey, Ted Ray, Robb Wilton, Max Miller and Tommy Handley. Miners. Pit Ponies. All "Ventriloquist Assistants" (NEVER use the "D" word!). People who laugh in the face of adversity. Gerry Marsden - top bloke!

Footy

I love footy! But ever since Knotty Ash FC were banned from the league in 1947 (due to having 4ft high crossbars) I've been a supporter not a player. Tranmere's my club! I love and respect Liverpool ...
