Laura Michelle Patterson was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on August 17, 1984. Laura Michelle was put in her fathers arms and stopped crying immediately as they stared in wonder at each other. This was the beginning of a very special relationship. The family, made up of mom, Theresa, and older brother Jimmy, lived in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. Laura Michelles dad worked for UPS and shortly after her birth he was transferred to California. At 10 weeks of age, Laura Michelle moved to Danville, CA. Just before Laura Michelle turned two years old, her father became very ill and had a life saving heart transplant. She spent countless hours over the next fourteen years in hospital waiting rooms. Many nights she sat in a corner of her dads hospital room, doing homework and socializing with her family. This routine became a way of life for the Pattersons. Being six years younger than her brother, Laura Michelle spent many hours in the family minivan as her mom carpooled Jimmy and his friends to school and to various activities. To pacify this little person strapped in a car seat, her mom played cassettes and sang along to fun kid-type songs. As soon as she was old enough, Laura Michelle put herself in charge of the cassettes. At 18 months, she chose the songs and also started to sing along. Soon mom was buying Broadway show tunes and the sing-alongs continued daily. Piano lessons began in Kindergarten and Laura Michelle started voice lessons in 3rd grade. At this time her favorite songs were from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Her interest in music drew her to spend time in a childrens theatre group where she was involved in productions of Annie and Pajama Game. In 5th grade, Laura Michelle got a stereo for her room and her new idol became Celine Dion. To start her day off, she had to belt out songs with Celine on the way to school. Singing lessons continued as did many recitals. These recitals led her to want more performance time. Laura Michelle sang the "Star Spangled Banner" at a USF baseball game as a practice for performing the song at an Oakland As game. When Laura was in 8th grade "My Heart Will Go ..ed every one of her days. Although Laura Michelle was very shy to sing in front of her peers, she sang Journey to the Past at her 8th grade graduation. During middle school she studied voice from 2 teachers. Laura Michelle also took up the flute and clarinet and played in the school band. Meanwhile, her dad was slowly becoming sicker. He went into kidney failure when Laura Michelle was in 6th grade. Some mornings she would be a little late to school so she could stop at the dialysis unit and give him a hug and a kiss. Moving on to a big public high school was quite a change for her. She had gone to the same private school from pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade. It had a homey environment and was the perfect place for a little girl whose dad was extremely sick. The teachers let her use the phone to call him if she was worried and hearing her voice in the middle of the day gave him a boost. During Laura Michelles freshman year in high school, her dad lost his battle. He passed away in April of 2000. She sang "On My Fathers Wings" from the animated movie Quest for Camelot at his funeral. Even though she was devastated by the loss of her father, she wanted to sing to him one last time. In the summer after her dad died, Laura Michelle began working with Jim Bedford who became her vocal coach. Through Bedford Studios, she performed at the Hayward Zucchini Festival, the Alameda County Fair, the Campbell Festival, and the California State Fair in Sacramento. She was a headliner at the Stockton Music Fest 03 along with other aspiring singers. She also sang on a local TV show called Community Impact. Jim Bedford produced her demo CD, which includes "Boys Will Lie", "Shy Guy", and "Christmas Day". In Spring of 2004 Laura Michelle began working with celebrity vocal coach David Coury in Los Angeles. Since then she has recorded three songs with him and Alex Alessandroni, Simone Sello, Fabio Angelini, titled "Nu Shoes", "Fear of Flyin'", and a remake of "Love Child". Two months ago she moved to LA to further pursue her career. All through her life, Laura Michelle was very close to her father. He always wanted Laura Michelle to sing to him. It was something special between them. Her dad encouraged her to follow her dream and she has with a passion. Laura Michelle is following her dream and dedicates all her hard work to her father.Get Sexy Myspace Layouts here Myspace Layouts
