About Me

Hello, I'm Tonybear....I used to be the drummer in The Fourth Egg....These days I get my kicks from doing djing & fiddling around with drum machines and samplers..... I use this myspace page to communicate with folks and let 'em know about gigs & events and so on. Mildly refreshed from my summer break I appear to have some 'djing gigs' on the horizon. here are some details............Saturday October the 4th at Telford's Warehouse with The Undercover Hippy playing live. The Undercover Hippy? What does he sound like? "Think Ben Harper meets Mos Def... at a Drum n Bass night... hosted by Delasoul. Confused? Me too. Everytime someone asks me what kind of music I play I end up saying something like "acoustic jazzy bluesy hip-hop reggae with a drum n bass flavour" ....Expect a healthily diverse bunch of choons from me on the djing........... www.myspace.com/undercoverhippy ----------- Thursday October the 23rd at Telford's Warehouse as part of the Silicone Fish event.... I'll be providing the odd bit of background music while Andy Hickie, Lexo Claro, Fox Gang & Miyagi play live... if you're into your choons it'd be unwise to miss this one..... www.myspace.com/siliconefishboy.... www.myspace.com/andyhickie.... www.myspace.com/foxgang.... www.myspace.com/miyagimusic ------------------------- Saturday November the 29th at Telford's Warehouse with Sheelnagig playing live."Sheelanagig?" you ask......."Sheelanagig have been honing their eclectic blend of folk, jazz and world music since early 2005. Equally at home on festival stages, music venues and street corners the band have developed a devoted following with two album releases and a hectic touring schedule. Blistering live performances have made Sheelanagig festival favourites across the UK and into Europe, and caused dancefloor mayhem from the Scottish Islands to the South of Italy. The five members of Sheelanagig bring a wide range of musical backgrounds to the band’s unique sound, and are united by their commitment to energetic performance with the highest quality instrumental music.".......I dj'd for these guy's last time they played at Telford's and they were fucking ace live. They're a really tight band and they properly kick ass with a serious fusion of styles, you can't help but appreciate their sound.......www.sheelanagig.co.uk/

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

THIS JUST IN... I'll be djing on Friday the 24th of October at Telford's Warehouse. Liverpool's Jessica's Ghost are dropping by to play some tunes for us, if you're not familiar read this ------ "Forget your busy life, lay down your cares for a moment and take time to enjoy some fine melodic music from Jessica’s Ghost. Their EP ‘Return to the Start’ is a small collection of finely fashioned soulful songs built on groundwork of intricate musicianship, perceptive lyrics and superb vocals.-------------------------------I’m told folk songs are intense, meaningful, narrative songs, filled with social commentary. I’m also told that pop music has none of those qualities. I’d argue with that - some pop music has great depth and is the folk music of its day. Who cares? However you arrive at your definitions, Liverpool-based Jessica’s Ghost make great music – folk or pop------------------------.‘Stand Alone’ is one of those songs that you hear once and it’s with you all day. That’s no criticism – because the more you hear it the more there is to hear. Emma’s voice delivers the sensitive poignant lyrics beautifully. And I’m pleased to tell you that Seb’s percussion is spot on - with such an upfront beat many drummers would swamp the vocals. ‘Sarah’ is a gem – and my favourite track. Emma’s voice hits all the right emotional buttons with her delivery of the sensitive lyrics that reach out to touch your soul, while cello and mandolin set up connections of subtlety that fit perfectly.---------------------------------------Some songs take unusual turns often when you least expect them – ‘Disguise’ is one of those. Perhaps the least immediately accessible song on the EP but persevere you’ll grow to love it. There’s depth worth reaching into. Listen to the lyrics and tell me you don’t identify with the sentiment. ‘Run Away With Me’ is another beautiful slice of spirit for your imagination - “Run away with me ‘til there’s nowhere left to hide,” - these folk write superb songs about life experiences that affect all of us. If this one doesn’t get to you you’re already dead and don’t know it.---------------------------------------Jessica’s Ghost an unsigned band? I for one cannot imagine why. When you find yourself outside the doors of a club with Jessica’s Ghost headlining, go in, you’ll be glad you did."----------http://www.jessicasghost.co.uk/-------------- ------------- Covering for resident Friday night dj (the BBC's inimitable Adam Walton) I'll be digging deep to put together a fun packed friday nights worth of hits, tell your sister. High Society heads "from back in the day" take note.. that's if any of you are still alive.. and reading this.
