Greetings and salutations! We were an indie type mag with no corporate ties whatsoever. That left us to enjoy being unshackled in terms of what we printed, published, listened to and promoted. However that nasty phantom the tax man halted proceedings and so we stopped being a mag and have now become promotions/events managers. We help manage and arrange tours with Miyagi, Andy Hickie and The Merry Maidens, Heal the Last Stand, Chris Ingram and The Loose Kites alongside organising and managing regional and national gigs/tours and arts events. Come April 2009 we will be on our 12th tour in as many months and for the first time we are going to Ireland with a selection of the aforementioned bands.
From our base in Chester we promote local regional and national talent. We seek out artists, musicians, poets, writers, cartoonists, dj's, vj's, critics and wish to help others find an audience, a platform or just get their talent recognised. We specialize in events and gigs and will put on jamborees everywhere and anywhere. From your living-room to your shed, from your wedding to your birthday. We have an immense contact network all over the United Kingdom and can literally fix you up with your cultural needs where ever you reside.
We have been helped immensly by Dr Hermans, Rainforest, Alexanders Jazz Cafe, City Bar, Chester University, The Frog and Nightingale, Chester Gateway Theatre, Pyramid @ Parrhall in Warrington, Telfords Warehouse, Oxfam in chester and wrexham, Central station in Wrexham, Debees in Winsford, Avalanche Records, Fopp Edinburgh, all of whom have helped promote or sponsor us in some way shape or form.
When we get our new magazine on the road we will let you all in on it as we will be looking for creative input. It WILL be in black and white, be creative writing only, have NO adverts and will cost you NOTHING, thats right, nada, gratis, free.
I the past we have been lucky to hold bonanza interviews with kind bands such as Badly Drawn Boy, Little Barrie, Millburn, The Pigeon Detectives, Akira The Don, The Rohypsters, Real Crazy Apartment, Alfonzo, The Loose Kites and Pama International.
Bands or acts who we have booked for events in the past four years include Go Faster, The Scratch Perverts, The Loungs, The Indelicates, Fight Fight Fight, Death Of A Party, Printscreen, The Loose Kites, Everything is Now, Cult 45, Funk Dub, Charlotte With Robots, Alfonzo, Fox Gang, Sprouting Twigs, Fran and Josh, Matt Stott, Two Base Hit, Asbos, The Drifting Flames, Ego King, The Tommys, My Amiga, Carley Square, Real Crazy Apartment, Married To The Sea, University Of The King, Dance Off, Dave Greenald, Andy Hickie, Neal Thomson, Gintis, The Time, Hero Project, The Loving Cup, Real Exit, Aspen Grove, Lucy Styles, Beehive Project, Out From Animals, The Fountains, Sound Stripe, Joe Rybicki, The Snowball Effect, Caro Snatch, The Irie, The Dukes Of Portland, The Roosters, Mirrorball, The Stops, Super Nought, The L.P., The Invisible Wires The Cosmonaughts, The Prestige, The Time, Heal The Last Stand and the immense Miyagi...
We have been lucky so far in that most people of an artistic inclination have been encouraging and have helped push things onto another level. We cannot guarantee funds but what we lack in money we make up with our enthusiasm to help every cause. If there is anything whatsoever you or yours feel can do to help or indeed need help with just get involved. If your music needs reviews, links to a site, pics published online, or wish to commit an article, story, poem or would like to perform at SiliconeFish Night just email via myspace. Failing that just stick us on the friendly fire list we will return the favour.
Watch out for further upcoming events posted over this site as we begin the task of branching out and staging ever more gigs in and around a town near you. Please forward any work, creative writing, photos, music, or submissions to
[email protected] and we will be happy to publish in the next edition due soon.
TAKE IT EASY, WE HOPE YOU ENJOY THE SHOW
ONE LAST THOUGHT...here's a sample of poetry to whet the appetite...
I lost my love by the Water of Leith
Where moonlight shone upon beautiful teeth.
Where the dam was built and water flowed
Where we held each other by feel
I held her close and kissed her brow
Where ring on finger I placed by kneel.
I gave my heart to mountain spring
Where burn becomes river
We drank in the dark and kissed by touch
Where the scent of skin makes quiver
I held her strong and smelled her hair
Where hands made noughts of shiver
I held my love where salt became clear
Where sea swam up the stream
Where salmon leap and trout do breed
Where young love starts to dream
I caressed her stomach made her sleep
Where boys use nets to glean
I awoke to sirens’ calls and sailors lament
Where the meandering river flows
Where I left my boy-child virgin scent
Where the mermaids and Vikings go
I kissed her brow and left her spent
Where we skimmed flint across the shores
