About Me

Guitar playing: moderate to good strumming but perhaps too percussive and unrefined, finger-picking fair but limited to variations of only two styles, shows promise in more frequent use of picked notes as opposed to full chords. Vocals:good, has lost its tendency towards affectation over the years but still lacks the subtlety that could be achieved with a more breathy approach, range is fair with a rich lower register that often goes unused because of a preference for high voices in other singers. Melody: extremely self-conscious of melody which is most often a good thing except when occasional flourishes or falsettos make a song filling and hard to digest. Lyrics: predominate tendency toward first person, striking absence of any love songs, recurring images that must be symbols for the author and a dogged bent on rhyme. Other instrumentation: mediocre performances on woodwinds and keyboard-employed mainly as coloration to enhance the song
