Rev. SICK I.B.

The Original SICKness

About Me

Who is the Reverend SICK I.B.? Why, I be he!
I am the founder and president of SICK VIDEO. I am a veteran progressive metal guitarist, currently playing in the thrash metal/ punk band, GLOB. I am an ordained minister of the Church of the Subgenius (so in other words, I am very anti-christian, non-religious and non-NORMAL!) I strongly identify with the "420" culture, but not with the hippie crowd. (Doesn't mean I don't like 'em! I'm just not one, no matter how long my hair is!) I'm a hard-rocking partyer who stays up late and turns it up loud -but no alcohol or cigarettes for me, thanks! I'm a 9-time Burning Man participant. I speak fluent Spanish and am studying Japanese. My 2 dogs, Tonka and Flopsy are my immediate family and living partners. I own a home in Willits, and I also rent a room in the Santa Cruz area, so I live in both places.

My Interests

I consider myself a serious guitarist and semi-serious cyclist. I ride BMX, cross-country mountain bikes and a road bike. I play METAL guitar. And not this cheesy Nu-Metal stuff. Real metal. Listen to some old Slayer or Metallica to get an idea of my style. I travel alot and I plan to keep on traveling. I love Northern California and I love living here, but I also hope to see much of the world while I'm still on it. I also love my dogs and I am a fresh water aquarium enthusiast with the some of the same fish I've had since around 1988. I own a home in the woods with a large yard where I enjoy cooking and general homemaking

I'd like to meet:

Interesting people in NorCal and elsewhere. Any bands or individuals who are looking to have a video made and want an awesome production at an amazing price. Japanese and Spanish speakers who can help me practice, and I can help with English! Metal musicians who might want to jam with an experienced guitarist in a style ranging from Black Sabbath to Dead Kennedys to Cannibal Corpse and anywhere in between. Cyclists who ride bicycles in Northern CA, especially Mendocino county BMXer's and mountain bikers.

Music:

I play lead guitar in GLOB, check out our myspace page in my top friends! My favorite newer musical act is the Japanese band POLYSICS. You have got to check them out OR DIE! [www.polysics.com] I listen to alot of music that is now considered "old", and I generally prefer heavier rock-type music ranging from 60's rock like Hendrix, James Brown and the Beatles, to 70's favorites including Zappa, The Ramones, Black Sabbath and AC/DC, to 80's thrash metal, punk rock and new-wave, and on into modern death/ black/ thrash metal (NOT NU-METAL!!) My favorite bands include, in no particular order; GLOB, DEVO, GWAR, THE PUNK GROUP, Frank Zappa, The Dead Kennedys, Black Sabbath, Black FLag, Ozzy Osbourne, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Butthole Surfers, Ministry, Parlaiment, Metallica (Cliff Burton era), Slayer, Primus, Suicidal Tendencies, old Sepultura, Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Death Angel, Skitzo, Mummification, Embryonic Devourment... the list is long, I'm way into music. I am passionate about QUALITY metal music and [OLD!] punk rock. I have an appreciation for jazz, R&B, classical, funk, jam bands and reggae, but I am not into country, modern hip-hop, or DJ type electronic music, although I don't hate them, and there are indeed a few songs or artists I like from each of those genres. And I do like some quality older hip-hop such as Public Enemy, NWA, Gransdmaster Flash and Ice-T. And I have a super weakness for old-school breakdancing music like "Egyptian Lover", "Rockit" or "Siberian Nights". Mostly I like to write and play my own music on the guitar, which leans toward the heavy metal end of things.

Movies:

I have abnormal taste. I love weird, obscure independent films that most people haven't heard of or just plain dislike. I also love comedy and gory 80's horror movies. Some of my all time favorites include The Forbidden Zone, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Raising Arizona, Trading Places, Return of the Living Dead, The Evil Dead (trilogy), Natural Born Killers... there are too many to name. There have been very few movies made in the past 10 years that I've enjoyed.

Television:

I don't watch tv. But I do like "Curb Your Enthusiasm", The Simpsons and Futurama. I watch the dvd's, though. Commercials rot your brain.

Books:

"The Hawkline Monster" by Richard Brautigan; "The Man Who Folded Himself" by David Gerrold; "Banishment" by Rick Wernli; "The People's History of The United States" by Howard Zinn; I also enjoy lots of non-fiction books on travel, politics, culture, etc.

Heroes:
