Music:
Classic Country like Waylon, Willie, and the boys; Rockabilly, old and new, especially the Queen of - Wanda Jackson. A little Psychobilly - Tiger Army and HorrorPops for instance; Old Skool Punk, 80's Classic Alternative - yes I'm a nerd. I still love The Smiths, Depeche Mode, and The Cure. Surf, Big Band, Bluegrass, guitars and Cadillacs and Hillbilly music. I love the slide of a steel guitar, I love the moan of an old blues harp, and anything with fiddle. Took lessons for a while but can only play The Tennessee Waltz.
Movies:
Pretty much any Tim Burton film. I love Johnny Depp, but not in a creepy weird way. I just love the obscure characters he plays in Burton's films; Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, even Willy Wanka. Gilbert Grape, Cry-Baby Walker, Captain Jack Sparrow and Sam in Benny and Joon are also among favorites. Love the brat-pack collection - Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink... East of Eden, Rebel Without a Cause, Shag, The Outsiders, Roadracers, Dream With the Fishes, True Romance, Rushmore, Napoleon Dynamite, Elizabeth, and many more. Stupid ones too, like Zoolander, Joe Dirt, Drop Dead Fred.
Television:
30 Rock rocks! Arrested Development (too bad it's gone), Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Simpsons, Conan, Earl, The Office - BBC's is better and so is What Not to Wear on BBC, also Graham Norton on BBC or Comedy Central. Otherwise TV generally sucks.
Books:
I read a lot of Roald Dahl, one of my favorite authors, and Beverly Cleary to my second grade class. I don't have time to read much for myself anymore, so I read them things I loved in hopes that they will love them too. My new favorite grown ups' book is "Boy's Life" by Robert McCammon. It's sooo good it made me laugh out loud. Historical fiction's good too. I loved "Memoirs of a Geisha." I like murder mysteries and true crime. "Where the Wild Things Are," "The Facts of Life and Other Dirty Jokes" by Willie Nelson, any of S. E. Hinton's books. Oh yeah, and the Bible.
Heroes:
My blue-eyed baby boy, Memphy Q, because he was born happy and wakes up that way everyday. My brown-eyed girl, Bella Roux, for her stubborn headstrong personality (she got that from me) and her sweet side she lets out every once in a while. And Markypoo, my husband, who has let me do whatever I want and not made too much of a stink about it. Thanks for trusting me, Babe.
