One more time. With feeling. (Or a strong drink).

About Me

I started out years ago. I have always written songs and played this or that instrument it seems. I do not read music. I constantly write. I am a fan of MANY musicians and am influenced by them as well. Kris Kristofferson, Gram Parsons, Lotus Dickey, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, John Fogerty, Creedence and many more. Lots of 80's people as well. Tears For Fears, The Police, Sting, Duran Duran, Squeeze etc. What I have found out is that it is the earlier influences that seem to come out in my writing. This was a surprise to me years ago. It still holds true today even. Some have compared my sound and style to Gram Parsons. I love that. But, it truly wasn't an intentional thing. I simply write the way I write. So, take the time to listen. Then take the time to comment. I WILL respond. Peace......Thom.I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)

Influences:
This is Lotus Dickey. (Dec. 28, 1911 - Nov. 23, 1989). He is a folk legend. This man is one of the very best folk artists of our time. Those in the folk movement know this man as well as any rocker knows the Rolling Stones! He lived, eat and breathed music. He is also one of the most underappreciated songwriters, singers, and musicians of our time. He hails from my little hometown, of Paoli, Indiana. Soon I will have a song on this site that was inspired and written, in tribute, to this legend. The song, "The Ghost of Grease Gravy Hill".
Lotus didn't have a Myspace dedicated to him. Why, I don't know. So, I wanted to do this for him and try to let as many people know who this great man was and what he meant to so many.
Here is a book everyone who appreciates Folk, Americana, Country, Roots and Bluegrass should own! It is "The Lotus Dickey Song Book". This is the second edition. It is a labor of love from Nancy C. McEntire, Grey Larsen and Janne Henshaw with great additional info and articles from Dillon Bustin. Dillon and Richard Kane also did a film "Water from Another Time". This film, put out in the late '70s, was responsible for Lotus Dickey's being "discovered". You need to realize also, that all these folks mentioned are legends in their own right as well. Well known, respected and exceptionally talented people, each and every one. It is their love of this man and his music, their friendship and respect for him, that has also allowed so many to "discover" Lotus after he was gone from us to a greater concert hall. God bless them for it. You can also get all of Lotus Dickey's music and the book from Grey Larsen's website, www.greylarsen.com or www.lotusdickeymusic.org.
Sounds Like: I've had some say Gram Parsons. You be the judge. Then let me know.
