Rebecca's Art

The scenic views of the Catskill Mountains have surrounded me all of my life and provided inspiration for my artwork. As an abstract artist, the canvas speaks to me in layers. Elements of my emotions and spirituality become exposed throughout the process. Line, color and shapes become the alphabet to express life’s experiences and my internal spiritual struggle. Not forcing a subject or image, but letting the image feel its way in the gestures made by the brush strokes. It is a challenge to expose the inner self, rather than the recreation of an object – it is a process of ‘search’. Evoke emotion and connect to the work; without wanting to define the ‘something’ and leaving a lot up to the viewer. R.S.
