Sounds Like:
The love-battered romance of a mid-teen Moz, the flat-capped indie twinkle of The Housemartins
-NME
Much better however are Leicester’s The Displacements, who resembles the Buzzcocks with an even softer heart, yet who rock like their lives might cease the moment they discover the fourth chord. Really, that’s all we ask.
- NME
The crowd are throwing themselves fully into the rhythms and choruses of young whippersnappers The Displacements. They couple their youthful enthusiasm with blasts of sophisticated, 60s and 70s-inspired indie rock that shows them to be mature beyond their years
- The Fly
Hotly tipped for 2008, The Displacements look set to be the ones to watch out for in the coming months
- Drowned in Sound
Ascendent Indie from Leicester with more soul than your average ghost
- NME StereoLike Mick and Keith uniting over Chuck Berry LPs as schoolboys, youngs wags Andy Stone and Nicholas Paul found themselves bonding first over a Clash badge. 2008 heralds big things for Leicester’s finest.
- Clash Magazine
An indie band with real ambition. Ones to watch
- ZOO
They were Leicester’s best kept secret for a while, then a talented up and coming band, and now The Displacements are not just a band Leicester can be proud of: they are a triumph for English music in general.
The feeling that The Dips are on the cusp of greatness is undeniable.

They soon get the crowd moving with their anthem like tunes. They change pace within songs to great effect, making them more personal and involving the audience, clearly echoing the lyrics with the speed and tenacity of the song. Full of surprises they are keen to convey all emotions with their music, touching lightly on each and not getting caught in the inevitable traps of scorned love or desperation.
They are certainly a band you can enjoy listening to time and time again, regardless of your mood.

Sara Humphreys- East Magazine
the foot tapping barnstorming boogie of the tight as a gnat’s arse spiked groove of the Displacements ’Lady Loss’ is a video short of being heavy rotation on MTV.
Hollow Smoke Compilation - The Sunday Experience
The Displacements seized this moment like they were top of the bill at Reading. This was an authoritive, exciting headline act in its own right, ready to take on the World. Virtually mobbed at the merchandise tent..selling 70 CDs by the time I’d left..I’ll say it again - one day people will boast of seeing them in this magical early era.
