(((Eugene Scene))))The Rhythm Pimps... It rolls nicely off the tongue doesn’t it? This power trio, dubbed ‘The Rhythm Pimps’ hail from Eugene, Oregon; a city known for its oddities, home of Simpson’s creator - Matt Graining, The Ducks, and of course a thriving underground music scene. It was rated number 6 in most ‘happening’ music spots in the US by Rolling Stone. Other bands to rise out of Eugene are the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Floater and The Rock ‘N’ Rock Soldiers. The Rhythm Pimps hope to add another chip to the Roster of Rock that has sprung forth from this Hippy College town.(((Audibility)))Currently, The Rhythm Pimps are promoting their new Demo EP ‘Basement Sessions’ or ‘Nothing Official’ - title TBA. This CD along with their first album ‘Groundscore’ is in circulation at local radio stations, including 88.1 U of O Campus Radio and 97.9, the local New Rock Station. With a passion for high intensity live shows to keep the crowd burning up the floor and an ear for quality songwriting, The Rhythm Pimps are for sure to be up and coming.(((Evolution)))Formed in high school and continued on into their twenties, The Rhythm Pimps worked with Greg Riker (former Microsoft employee and Board of Directors for Mackie, Seattle WA.) to independently release their first CD titled ‘Groundscore’ in 2003; A chronicling of their diverse sound and how it has evolved to what it is today; a mishmash of Rock/with elements of Funk, Punk and Reggae. Catchy and well-written enough to be radio friendly, while still maintaining a unique sound. With a songbook far exceeding 100 original songs and only 1 official album release, The Rhythm Pimps are sure to be looking at many more hours of studio time; call it their second home perhaps.(((Forward Progress)))The Rhythm Pimps have toured the Pacific Northwest from Portland to Seattle. They’ve covered a lot of ground, playing Colleges, outdoor Summer Festivals, dirty Punk Rock bars and house parties With such a diverse sound, their music crosses all boundaries and finds a nice niche wherever they play. The Rhythm Pimps have shared the stage with the likes of Fishbone, The Toasters, The Phenomenauts, Kristen Hersh and Tarrka just to name a few.(((Motivated)))“The Rhythm Pimps – Eugene’s favorite party band” says Pabst Live and Local. The RP’s are planning to record even more material and see how well of a response the new demos create, and if all goes well, they plan on hitting the road later this summer to tour and promote. The Rhythm Pimps are motivated, focused and committed to their craft which is and art form and also a business. As one writer from the Eugene Weekly put it, “For this trio, exploration is the name of the game, and while pimpin' ain't easy, these guys make it look pretty simple.”
