MONDAY CLUB.

About Me

Monday Club. are Astrud Steehouder on guitar and vocals, Jessamine Tierney on bass and vocals and Amy Hurst on drums and occasional vocals. The motivation that glues this band together has been the attempt to create a sound that satifies a combined aesthetic; the intention to write songs that resonate. The songs are ideas-based: cropped observational narratives, stark impressions of strange histories, dark blue cinematic lynchian atmospherics cut with sharp drums and curious basslines. It is frequently rough sounding which is in part accidental and in part choice. Right now, harshness and subtlety seem to be the carefully balanced elements that are most important to this band. Monday Club. have enjoyed airplay on XFM's John Kennedy Exposure show, recently performed a session for Resonance FM and hope to release a 7" in the very near future."London based three-piece wrap their tales of love and loss around a scuzzy yet melodic blueprint. Poetic, vivid imagery, perfect timeless harmonies, raw guitars..""This band rocks!..('Radio') is the instant classic." John Kennedy. Demo of the Month: Spill magazine."Astrud Steehouder is blessed with the sass of Patti Smith and the free-love spirit of Grace Slick. Dressed in red, the starry-eyed singer confesses a love of all things astronomical as she introduces ‘Blue White Yellow Red’ - the colours of dwarf stars, don’t you know. This smouldering performance is full of highs including the burning Howling Bells style ‘Girl With The Yellow Hair’ and elsewhere there are healthy nods to Sons And Daughters and The Gossip. Monday Club aren’t starstruck and should be heading for stardom soon." - Artrocker onlineProfile edited with CricketSoda's Myspace Editor
