It's Monk Time!

About Me

I like two note or minimal guitar solos, for example there is a cover of Hey Joe on a Nuggets compilation- I can't remember who it's by as I only pay attention to the song titles after listening to the track about 25 times- which has an amazing, searing two note bit at the beginning and you totally expect it to appear again, but it doesn't. Joy Division are masters of them. I want to buy a Fender amp that is called the Hot Rod Deluxe and is a 40w valve amp. I found a white one (60s white, like the colour of the furniture in a Clockwork Orange- I love heavy 60s plastic moulded furniture,) but only in America. But it's just so much better than the black one. I have no feasible way of transporting it over here. It is worrying that this actually causes me some degree of angst. I like 7" records of indie/pop singles that I usually buy much to the dismay of everyone I know. But I must raise a point- is Killer by Seal not a good record? I like it when they are 99p. Obviously. I basically like all instruments. Yesterday I bought a black tin whistle. It would sound amazing played in a slightly echoey hall, or played in a wood, for example, where all reverberations would be clippped and the sound would fall into the wind. I am reading My Fault by Billy Childish at the moment and it is great. I love Sandman comics. I like offensive or stupid humour, but am quite selective- it's got to be a specific kind of sickness. I dont find that welsh Jackass thing amusing at all but I do like watching animals falling over on You've Been Framed. Generally, if it's off key I'll probably find it funny. I am yet to find anyone that has ever seen a film called "Funnyman" that I used to watch with my friend Naomi at school. It wasn't that funny but it was sick. It was about a gnome/jester with some sort of hideous phallic appendage that shoots people with bazookas and looks a bit like Black Metal freak Mortis, except with a northern accent. I love David Mitchell and Robert Webb. I also wish I had a kitten but my housmate is "allergic" to them. There is a strong possibility that if I got one she would kill it. Depressing fact: On my birthday I went to visit Derek Jarman's house at Dungeness. It's a black cottage and has black writing on the side. But you can read it. So I went to get the train to Hythe, and realised after walking for 45 minutes to the bus station that I was at the wrong Hythe. I had managed to get to Essex while attempting to get to the South coast. So I spent an hour in Colchester, then went home.

My Interests

At the moment (though it might endure) I'm pretty obsessed with the concept of ball lightning and have at times this week been genuinely afraid that this strange phenomenon will come in through a window and kill me. Apparently, the chances of this are slim. I like tin whistles, my blue and pink guitars, Eerie Indiana and The Monks.
