DINER are an Oxford / Bucks / London based 3 piece with a strong set of guitar driven songs, powerful melodies and sweet vocal harmonies. The sound raw but epic garage guitar, reminiscent of early REM with sweet vocal harmonies that bring to mind some of the finer bands of the 60’s.
This is mixed with a modern, alternative, lo-fi guitar pop sound similar to classy guitar bands such as Idlewild, Sugar, Pixies, The Icicle Works and The Smiths.
Here are some press clippings:
"If you enjoy a dabble in internet radio, you'll be familiar with Diner. Their track 'A History Of Looking Out For Me' charted second to Billy Idol and Alanis Morrissette on the chart for the world's largest internet radio network in two successive weeks - above Blondie and U2!
Their music is a blend of '60s garage-pop, Idlewild song craft and Pixies guitars, which ends up sounding similar to 'Reckoning'-era REM.
...Mainstream adulation's looming."
Rob Collins, NME
"...layered guitars and vocals lacing strong melodic rock with twinges of Idlewild and early REM influences thrown into the cocktail... with the release of their debut album - Eight Pound Guitar - they are taking the world of internet radio by storm. Highlights for me were To The Coast and Keep The Wolf From The Door, two tracks whose layers, vocals and bass lines complement the distinctly Idlewild-esque melodies."
