Denderah is a band. It also was a city, and is now a pile of rocks.
In it's present incarnation, Denderah is a POWER TRIO consisting of drums bass & guitar. These minimalist elements come together to create something punishing yet laughable on stage, with members posing so unconvincingly that you can't help but know that every calculated move was planned weeks if not months in advance. If something can be said for this band, it's that their stage presence brings to mind the raw & unformed fury of early hardcore bands such as Air Supply, Seals & Croft, the Carpenters and Bread. The band's sound is a self-described mixture of wuss-core, geek-rock, spaz-core-sludge-pop and life-metal. The lyrics are so inane and vacuous that Denderah is sure to break through on mainstream radio any time now.In it's most immediately previous incarnation, Denderah was the principal city of the sixth province of Upper Egypt in ancient times, and cult centre of the goddess Hathor.Hathor herself was the incarnation of dance, and stories were told of how she danced before Ra when he was in despair to cheer him up. The temple contains two well-known, but slightly different representations of the heavens. Denderah also contains REMNANTS of the Old Kingdom and First Intermediate Period of Ancient Egypt. On the ceiling of the Denderah temple was carved a Zodiac, or Celestial Day. The Signs of the Zodiac portray a configuration of the stars about 90,000 B.C. for the astrological symbols according to the Precession of the Equinoxes denote the passage of three-and-a-half Great Years, each 25,800 years, so that ninety thousand years have elapsed since.
