Borthwicks

About Me

Starting in Christmas 2005, Borthwicks has evolved and changed and chopped over the last few years. Over the years the band have played through numerous styles including indie, rock and metal. Currently the name is claimed and shamed across central Scotland by Glasgow based David Laird. Although not just about him, the endless list of musicians who have played and continuied contributing including Andrew 'Maggy' Maguire and Jon 'in off the red' Windsor. The story began as most bands do by Dave and Maggy banging out and restyling new songs, the two piece gradually expanded into a four, with respective drummer Emma Buchan and Dave Moffat filling the rolls until summer 2007, whereby John Wright and Bobby Kirkwood entered the fray. Between summer 2006 and late 2007 the band jammed out around 10 to 12 tracks both, playing both acoustic and full strength sets throughout the venues of Edinburgh and Glasgow. Unfortunately due to other non rock n roll commitments, Bobby was forced to quit in christmas 2007. Luckily for the rest of the guys a mere five days later, Nick joined, adding a new dynamic momentun and dynamic. This new momentum, led to a rethink and a new name, 'AFTERLIFE', (watch this space). With that, what for the name Borthwicks?Over the summer Dave has taken the name on Tour across Scotland and played over 40 gigs since. Writing and playing with Jon Windsor, the pair played together on numerous occasions, even hositng an evening in Glasgow's West End.So what next? An EP is planned for Christmas release and gigs a plenty will be banging out througout Jan.Anyways hope to catch you soon, take a listen and leave a message.Dave Myspace Backgrounds
