Sienna Dahlen grew up in Dawson Creek, BC. She studied jazz and discovered tofu and patchouli for the first time on Vancouver Island in Nanaimo at Malaspina College. Two years later, she strutted across the country to ultra-cool Montréal, QC, a city that would become her home for the next decade. While in Montreal, Sienna continued along her path of exploration and learned French, delved into Shiatsu, completed her Bachelor of Music degree at McGill University and released 3 full-length cds and an EP. Sienna has collaborated with some of Canada's finest musicians including Joel Miller, Christine Jensen, Kevin Dean, Marcus Paquin, Steve Amirault, Jeff Johnston, Dave Restivo, Kieran Overs, George Koller, Stefan Schneider, Nick Fraser, Dave Laing, Jodi Proznick, Tilden Webb, Mike Rud, Andrew Downing, Quinson Nachoff, Jim Head, Jim Doxas and the list goes on and on. In 2007, the amazing Norwegian/Canadian film "The Danish Poet", (created by Torill Kove, music by Kevin Dean) won an Academy Award. Sienna is proud to have provided the vocals for the sound track of that film. In May of 2008, Sienna completed her Master of Music degree at the University of Toronto under the mentorship of Christine Duncan. Shortly thereafter, Sienna embarked on her 2nd tour in Europe with her new Paris-based group consisting of Karl Jannuska, Pierre Perchaud and Chris Jennings. The band performed nine shows in France and Belgium and some great live footage was taken. Go to the "Video" section to check it out!
"Jazz trained, pop-savvy and musically accomplished, West Coast transplant Sienna Dahlen negotiates many influences, melding them into her own distinct sound…As full and rich an indie recording as you'll hear this year."
