Read Here to begin to understand:
Born of a Harley Riding Engineer Rock & Rollin' Daddy & a Catholic School/Drama Teacher Momma in the burb of a small southern town just north of New Orleans. Parents divorced when I was 5, but with houses next door to each other. I lived with my Mom. Dad traveled alot for work & built a new family. Living in my household as an only child, I enterained myself with my imagination. Couches became mountains, closets turned into rocketships or elevators. I went to strange lands and brought my friends with me. My favorite toy was a carboard box and some markers. It could be a manison, a psychadelic van, or a TV set from which I would broadcast my very own shows. Music, Performance & Art became my drugs. Began in the theatre at school & at a local Playhouse. All the meanwhile, attending Catholic School. Was never one for cliques, catholic school became hell. By the 8th grade, depression grew, I felt alone, & I tried to commit suicide. I sucked at it and didnt really want to die, I just wanted peace. Finally public High School! Freedom! People of different races & cultures (not just white like in Catholic School), boys, No Uniforms! (finally not looking like a nazi nation child), music, art... There were Hippies, Goths, Hicks, Preps, Nerds, locals sports legends, and more. I was my own thing, but excited by the various groups of people to choose from. High School was great, but still couldn't wait to escape the school system. So I tooke a few extra courses and skipped the 10th grade, graduated a year early. Auditioned for a touring singing/performing group, and moved to California. 4 Tours & 2 dinner theatres later, got married to a fellow performer. Began acting & working in Film/TV & taking Groundlings Improv classes. Stress of life, living young & poor & married in Cali, was too much, and the marriage dissolved. Became the lead singer of an established but troubled socal punk band. The group disbanded a few months later, but not without merit. The bass player of that band was future songwritting partner & FUJI MINX co-founder, John Fry. Fell in hard love and began writting and performing- the music that we wanted to make. Found Noel & Rob and found a family. I work everyday to become a better artist, musician, singer, performer, and person. Still poor. But better at it. Trying to make my dreams a reality and survive in a dying business...the music business. I don't copy CDs anymore b/c I'm on the shit side of that deal now. Only time will tell. I'm tired of hiding, I'm tired of tiptoe-ing across your fragile floor. Sometimes I get depressed & hate myself. Sometimes I'm Ok. Sometimes I'm euphoric & will do anything for the sake of Comedy (so I hope you have a sense of humor). Here I come, love me or hate me. I am not Gwen Stefani. I am not Madonna. I am not anyone, but me. Nothing's bitter, only getting better. xxx -Gv
