Formed in the year 2000 by brothers Paul and Kelvin Wolski (guitars and vocals, respectively), Jim Towler (guitars), John Hardacre (bass) and Ben Ramskill (drums), the Blackpool-based band went through a number of mutations, before settling into its current form, with the original five members joined by multi-instrumentalist Stephen Ladley and harmonica player Paul Bamford in 2005. Vocalist Lindsay Bennet cemented the current line up in 2006. Lotus Circle’s live show has earned them fans up and down the country, particularly in Lancashire, and also in Leeds where return visits have seen the growth of an ever-increasing fan base in that city. Their live schedule in 2006 included performances at the Edinburgh Festival and the Blackpool Gazette’s ‘Rockquest’ Battle of the Bands competition, at which they took first prize. Their adrenalised, uniquely athletic performances never fail to win over any audience; an antidote to the lack of spirit on display from most so-called rock ‘n’ roll acts currently active on the live music scene.In 2007 Lotus Circle staged the ambitious BlackVegas festival at the Blackpool Grand Theatre: two days of rock ‘n’ roll cabaret, incorporating comedians, magicians, dancers and the cream of Blackpool’s underground live music scene, performing to a packed house of over a thousand people. at the event over the August bank holiday weekend.
