In a day and age where we’ve grown accustomed to seeing female musicians who are either lilting singer/songwriters or auspicious scenery for a band, standing apart from the crowd is Jessie Deluxe. This androgynous beauty towers over the rest literally - as well as figuratively. This is in your face rock n’ roll that conjures up the grittiness of P.J. Harvey and the sex appeal of Elvis, all the while adding her own very unique edge.
In her own words, Jessie describes her sound as heavy melodic rock. Her songwriting is dynamic and powerful featuring choruses that “lift you high in the air and then smash you back down to the ground.†And this fiery front woman packs an authoritative punch live as she shreds on her Flying V and commands the mic with the conviction of a rock icon. Is it any surprise then that this L.A. based band is becoming well known for their high energy shows that captivate the audience not only by the strength of the music but also their intense, electric performance.
As for her background, Jessie’s enjoyed success playing in a number of other bands and working with various artists such as David Rowntree (Blur), the Transistor Project in London and producers such as Dave Jerden ( Janes Addiction, Poe) and Geza X (Sonic Youth). Jessie’s influences range from, Hendrix, David Bowie, Queens of the Stone Age, Annie Lennox, and NIN.
Jessie is always finding the most unique and talented players for her projects. She has worked with Jon Barrysmith (an accomplished drummer who has toured the U.S., Europe and played on bills alongside AFI, NOFX etc. with his former band Lonely Kings). Bass players include Bryan Elliott (who also engineered Jessie’s first EP “Vol.1â€) from Redlight Halo and also Tsuzumi Okai from The Binges. JDLX and her band continues to write, record and tour around the world! Playing to loyal fans and generating new ones with every show.
