*******THE BIOGRAPHY OF ALwAyS ApRiL (written at gunpoint)******* ____________________________________________________________ ___Back in the early 90’s Josh Coker (that’s me) played guitar and co-wrote the music in the Sacramento band Phallucy. Phallucy’s drummer was Abe Cunningham (Deftones). We played shows with other up and coming bands like Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, Deftones, Cake, Mr Bungle, RUN DMC (long story), and a bunch of other bands, most of whom you have never heard. Eventually Abe left to play full time with the Deftones, Phallucy broke up, reformed, broke up again…I was sad, I was also about 20 years old. I went on to devote my energies to; Saxophone, Drums, Art, Song writing, Improvisational music, and various unhealthy lifestyle choices…FADE OUT.................
FADE IN- I meet CHARMAINE in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Ash Flat Arkansas…
“uh, um, hey, nice tattoo, do you play music?â€....................
LITTLE DID I KNOW....
Girl Scouts, Ballet, Choir, Drama, Basket Ball, Cheerleading, Swim Team, Theater, Talent Show Winner (lip synching to Yaz), Voted BEST DRESSED in high school, Bowling Champ, Record store manager, Cage Dancer, 4H LEADER, SUBSTITUTE TEACHER, Real Estate developer, Bartender, and other stuff that is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!!... she got bored and needed something to keep her busy, sooooo…..........................
One day she started playing drums in a garage band which turned into an acoustic duo called Screamin’ Daisy which played in Missouri, Arkansas, Florida and California, which evolved into playing stand up drums in a GOTH-A-BILLY band called the Johnny Fire Trio which played shows from Panama City, Florida all the way to Tootsies in Nashville, which led to playing w/ the Barbara Burnette Trio in Las Vegas which wasn’t enough so she started a band in Florida called Misled which she had to leave abruptly (don’t ask) whereby she moved to Arkansas and started the seminal girl band FIREBOX, sang, wrote all of the music and played guitar until 4 member changes later FIREBOX broke up and Charmaine continued her solo stuff but eventually got sick of it all and stopped…........................
For about a week, until she metPAUL, “THE ONLY MUSICIAN IN OUR BANDâ€
Paul works and PLAYS DRUMS, he used to go to school and PLAY DRUMS, we don’t know where he lives or what he does, he just shows up to practice and play shows, we say "thanks", he says “It’s all good†then he’s gone. We think he is between 12 and 25 years old and lives in a giant drum shaped house in the woods somewhere. WHAT WE DO KNOW IS he used to work for an agency who would call him to sit in for other bands that needed a drummer to learn their whole set in a couple weeks and fill in so they could play shows. Other than that, it's just rumor and hearsay...............................
SO ALWAYS APRIL FORMED in the month before May of 2007 and shortly after our original bass player left to find some “real musicians†and our 2nd guitarist and good friend Shaggy left to pursue his own music…
A couple days later BART PULLS UP IN OUR DRIVEWAY......................
Bart used to be a submarine hunter in the navy.
Bart started playing piano at 8.
Bart plays guitar.
Bart plays bass.
Bart can sing like Elvis and that guy from Cinderella.
Bart’s brain devours knowledge like a black hole devours light.
Bart can build, program, or fix anything.
Bart can crush your head like a ripe melon.
We really lucked out with Bart................................
SO NOW ALWAYS APRIL IS a little juggernaut with 2 albums worth of original music and writing more all the time. YOU SHOULD GO LISTEN TO US NOW.
