Formed and based in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the current lineup of Dark Embrace came together in July of 2006. Founding members Jason Barker (bass), and Brad Johnson (lead/rhythm guitars) along with former drummer Patrick McNamee formed Dark Embrace a couple of years ago; in the summer of 2006 brothers Mike Turner (lead vocals) and Dan Turner (lead/rhythm guitars ) joined the band. The years of collective musical experience of Dark Embrace has helped the group gain a solid reputation in the Mid-South for its powerful and dramatic live performances, musical virtuosity, bold lyrical statements, and charismatic personalities. The band performs a potent blend of heavy metal, hard rock, progressive, thrash, hardcore and experimental elements. They are also constantly developing an extensive repertoire which is growing into new and exciting directions. Dark Embrace is an independent underground metal band and a force sure to deliver a sound and intensity that will continue to win the respect of their fans, and their peers alike for many years to come.
2007 was good to Dark Embrace. Here is a short list of accomplishments:
-Dark Embrace performed a total of 49 shows in 2007 in four states with over 40 bands. Hundreds of even more kick ass music lovers and supporters came out to participate and enjoy those shows.
-Dark Embrace released their first professionally produced EP. 6 songs. 1000 copies pressed through Discmakers. Over 300+ copies sold (approaching 400 copies). EP made available on CD Baby, Amazon, and Snocap. The EP was submitted to nearly a dozen record labels. Emails and phone calls were returned and a moderate level of interest continues to be shown.
-Dark Embrace officially became a business. Copyrights were secured for the music for the first EP. Members of Dark Embrace also became members of ASCAP. Dark Embrace started the search for professional management.
-Increased web presence in 2007. 6 videos released in 2007. Over 29,000 hits on this webpage. Dark Embrace also started accounts on Sonic Bids, Eventful, Pure Volume and can be found on several other webpages such as You Tube.
-Dark Embrace began writing and demoing material for their first full length record in the fall of 2007. The recording process will begin sometime in January or February of 2008. No release date has been set.
Other notable achievements: Dark Embrace was voted as a finalist in the Battle for MySpace showcase put on by HM concerts and Management in March of 2007; Dark Embrace won the ‘best metal band’ category and 5th overall in the Gold Star Club MySpace poll of the best bands in Arkansas. Dark Embrace has performed at the Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival and the Breakout Festival in Memphis TN. Dark Embrace performed at a St. Jude’s Benefit show held by Clear Channel Radio back in January of 2007 to a sold out audience. Dark Embrace has also been featured in a several articles in the local press in the past few months.
