I am here for Friends

About Me

Charles (Chuck) Den-Baars Born April 7th, 1958 5ft. 10, 145 lbs. dark blonde hair, (grey starting) green eyes, I have a Dutch Last name, and love all things Dutch! I am of German/ French blood on my mother's side, and Czech/English on my Biological father's side. He Died at the age of 25, 8 months before i was born, his name was Charles P. La Viska. My Mother Beverly j. maiden name Kurtz, remarried to Dirk Den-Baars when i was 11 months old, she had two more boys with him (4 in all) He was of Dutch and Indonesian blood. He was a P.O.W. of the Japanese for three and a half years during WWII. He passed away in 2003. Children of War or Holocaust survivors have a sacred duty to remember what their loved ones went through...! And i definately had a bit of European type culture in my upbringing, strict at times. Try to be very globally aware. (My Father spoke 7 languages, and travelled the world) Aries (not a typical aries, don't pay much attention to astrology) Republican (sort of, not a typical one) Don't smoke, never did. An Artist & Musician, working mainly with Cartooning, and Electronic music. Single, never married, been close though. Love most animals but without a pet right now after having a White male cat "Coop" for 11 years. A hard pet to out-do, any animal after him wouldn't seem right. Love to travel, though have not done too much lately. High school education, 4 years College art major, incomplete degree. I heard my Father speak Dutch 1000's of times, so i can understand it and German a little bit, especially written, so much of my music collection is in German, that i can sing along with a few songs. Don't drink too much alcohol anymore, but love well-brewed ales and microbrews, some wine with food, and maybe liquer. Oh, and one more thing about me, if you are requesting that i add you as a friend on Myspace, i always check out your profile first... If you are a stranger, and do not live in my Hometown... you have to have something in common with me. I don't need 20,000 friends like some people i know! If you are some web-cam chick, or dating profile promoter requiring my credit card just to check you out or even chat, or if your profile does not list what city you live in, or if your site info is the exact same as the previous hundred requests, then i will not hesitate to deny your request!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, fake people...get lost!

My Interests

Since i am an artist/musician, devoting equal time to both, and being very open minded about these interests, i could fill 1000's of pages here with my list, so i will keep it as short as possible. I love comic-book art and cartooning/animation the best, but i love stuff by artists from all periods of history. From pre-historic cave man art, on up to the futuristic art done by some computer artists. I love to collect old comic books from the 1950's and 60's especially, they started everything!! I love music from the early 60's on up to today's music, but am especially fanatic about synthesizer music. Mainly Electronic, E.B.M. Industrial, Synth-pop, and experimental stuff almost all out of Europe. I don't have too many American bands i like right now, only a hand-full, i almost never listen to local radio stations anymore, they rarely play a single thing i want to hear. I like to drink well crafted beers and ales, mainly European, but have had good beer from all over the world! I love different foods from all over the world also, My favorites being: Indonesian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Greek, Mexican, Dutch, Czech, German, Italian, and Japanese foods. I love old b/w films the most, i feel that the best movies have already been made long ago! I love old Lugosi, Karloff, Three Stooges, Marx Bros, and sci-fi, or Historical films and Cult-films the best! I like all kinds of girls, mainly open minded ones! I have dated girls of almost all racial groups, and hair color. Prefer European girls, Especially Dutch, German, and Eastern European girls, but obviously, i settle for American girls too! Prefer girls who can understand the deep mental passions of being an artist/musician, and not psycho-analyze me all the time. I am also a big History nut, ancient Greek/Roman and Medieval, and the Vikings interesting me the most. Like movies, but prefer to not watch them in a theatre, rather rent them, and watch at home. Can be quiet and seem shy, but may talk your head off, if given the right subject to chat about. Like most science fiction, but am definately not a Star Trek/Star Wars freak, prefer the vastly more cerebral work of genius writers like Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke, Issac Asimov, Phillip K. Dick, and Jules Verne.

I'd like to meet:

If i could go back in time...Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Abe Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Vincent Price, "Ghastly" Graham Ingles, Lon Chaney, Otto Dix, Socrates, Vincent Van Gogh, Greta Garbo, The Three Stooges, The Marx Bros, Johannes Vermeer, Hieronymus Bosch, Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, Carravaggio, Gavrilo Princip, William M. Gaines, Gerry Garcia, Dwight Frye, F.W. Murnau, Yvonne De Carlo, Benny Hill, Charlie Chaplin, Keith Moon, Edgar Allan Poe, Ian Curtis, Oliver Reed, Vic Morrow, Ed Wood... Giger. Berni Wrightson. And His Majesty, Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands, who awarded my father the Royal Dutch Resistance Cross, for his actions during WWII.

Music:

So much music to list, if i count all of my vinyl, cassettes, cd's and computer-burned cdr's, mp3's etc, i have well over 3000 lp's! A musician since age 10, started out on trombone, in late 1968, didn't get too far, gave that up for the drums in late 1969, cause my older brother Kurt, gave up his drums for playing bass guitar...(how could i ignore a set of drums at the foot of my bed, even if i did not know how to play yet?). Played many types of rock cover songs and some originals trough the 70's, sometimes playing to crowds of a thousand or more. By the time the punk/new wave explosion hit the world, in the late 70's, i had decided electronic music was where i would probably spend the rest of my musical career, and in 1980, rapidly started buying or borrowing synthesizers and drum machines etc, a-massing a large arsenal of gear over the years! Also, recording literally 1000's of sound sketches, demos, etc over the years. Presently leader of the electro band Kalter Trost. (formerly Galusha) Starting out with music i liked as a kid in the 60's/70's ... Some Beatles (how could you ignore the Sheer Genius of John Lennon?) The Who (one of my favorites for eternity) David Bowie, The Yardbirds, Alice Cooper (pre 1975 only) The Doors, The Zombies, Genesis, (only w Peter Gabriel as singer) Budgie, Uriah Heep, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Camel, Roxy Music, Manzanera, Black Sabbath, U.K. Yes, Nazareth, U.F.O. Newer bands, Wumpscut, Haujobb, Evil's Toy, Terminal Choice, Tumor, Blutengel, And One, Wolfsheim, Fortification 55, Project X, Davantage, Future Trail, Orange sector, Oomph! L'Ame Immortelle, Inertia, Inscape, Ionic Vision, Invincible spirit, Interlace, Run level zero, The Klinik, Neon judgement, a:grumh, Vromb,Borghesia, E-Craft, Spetsnaz, Nitzer Ebb, Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Ultravox, Visage, Japan, John Foxx, Funker Vogt, Feindflug, Suicide Commando, Hocico, Human Decay, High level static, Dead jump, De/vision, Beborn Beton, Talla 2xlc, Paul Van Dyk, Abcess, Armageddon Dildos, Aiboforcen, Insekt, Page 12, Sleepwalk, Syntec, the Retrosic, Yavin 4, YelworC, Waldgeist, Leaetherstrip, Lassigue Bendthaus, Covenant, VNV Nation, Soman, Implant, Trummerwelten, Blutzucker, Der Prager Handgriff, Duuster, D.A.F. Movies:

I don't have any absolute favorite actors/actresses, there are too many to make a final decision... One film i have seen for 40 years and never tire of is Lawrence of Arabia, easily one of the top 10 films ever made in history! Peter O'toole is sheer genius! Oliver Reed in Ken Russel's "the Devils", The Day the Earth Stood Still, When Worlds Collide, Village of the Damned (1960 version of course!) War of the Worlds, The Longest Day, The Train, The Vikings, The Long Ships, The Curious Dr. Humpp, Confessions of a Psycho-Cat, Blood Freak, Blood Feast, The Bizarre Ones, She Mob, The Girl and the Geek, Plan 9 from Outer Space, Bride of the Monster, Anything by the Three Stooges, The Marx Bros, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, Lon Chaney, Nosferatu, The Golem, The Old Dark House, The Wolfman, The Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Invisible man, Gladiator, Master & Commander, King Arthur, The Conqueror Worm, The Gamma People, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Robot Monster, Glen or Glenda, The face of the sreaming Werewolf, Wrestling women vs the Aztec mummy, Night of the Bloody Apes, City of Lost Children, Alien, Bladerunner, Zardoz, The Andromeda Strain, Anything with Barbara Steele, especially Black Sunday, Terror-creatures from the grave, She-beast, The Ghost, Castle of Blood, & Nightmare Castle. Anything put out by Something Weird Video, their cult films from the 1960's are a must have! Almost anything that Kirk Douglas or Burt Lancaster did, most Bogart, Peter Lorre, or Greta Garbo films also! Haxan, (Witchcraft through the ages) Europa, Europa, Das Boot, Stalingrad, Bridge on the River Kwai, Tora, Tora, Tora. Anything by the way ahead of his time Russian Director Sergei Eisenstein.

Television:

Maybe i live in the past (at least when it comes to tv...) I grew up with glorious black and white! I pretty much only use my tv set to watch movies from my collection, or rentals. I hardly ever watch regular tv programming! Of everything i have ever seen in my life of over 40 years of watching weekly tv shows, absolutely nothing compares to The Outer Limits (1963-65) That was Brilliant, Genius, still holds my rapt attention today! The Time-Tunnel (1968) My Favorite Martian, The Twilight Zone. Voyage to the bottom of the sea, Combat! the Fugitve, Cosmos, Fireball xl5, The Simpsons, Whose line is it anyway? MST3000, CSI, History Channel, Amc, Tcm, Mtv ( only when they still showed new wave videos!) Jonny Quest, (the best cartoon ever!) The Munsters, The Addams Family, Twin Peaks, Night Gallery, Chiller theatre, Benny Hill, Monty Python, Rat Patrol, Early Warner bros cartoons and especially Merrie Melodies toons from the 1930's and 40's, sorry, can't stand almost anything that Disney does, then or now. Most cable tv is worthless now, it's all 90% repeats that i have already seen years ago, so, i gave up on cable!

Books:

Any book by Aldous Huxley, "Ape and Essence" my favorite by him. Anything by Edgar Allan Poe, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke, Issac Asimov. The Teachings of Socrates, Aristotle, Plato, Confucius. Concerning music, i subscibe to Side-line magazine... Warren Magazines, (who put out Creepy, Eerie, and Vampirella) Bram Stoker, Mary Shelly, Jules Verne. Robert E. (where i often get inspiration for song lyrics!)

Heroes:

Abe Lincoln, Gandhi, Thomas Edison, Copernicus, Spiderman, Sgt. Fury. Herbert Hoover, (his ideas might have averted WWII!) My late Father Dirk Den-Baars, who suffered 3 and a half years in Japanese death camps during WWII, and had nowhere to go but up in life after seeing the worst side of humanity! My mother, Beverly Den-Baars, Leonardo Da Vinci, my high school art teacher, Mr. Frank Kowalcek. Teddy Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, Martin Luther, Johannes Gutenberg (creator of the printing press Anything you read, thank him!)
