I was given the gift of music!
Ever since I was little I’ve been really into all types of music. I think my first album was Elvis, back when I was 6, or so. I was inspired to play an instrument, so I took up the piano at about age 6. I taught myself to play the guitar about age 12, and started writing songs. I performed a few times, not counting all the piano recitals. By the time of my last recital, at age 16, I was playing "Tocatta in D minor"(Bach).
My piano teacher said that she really didn’t have anything left to teach me, so I went on my way to bigger things. I joined a punk band, Plak Candy, around that time and played bass. Although I was having fun, it really wasn’t really my interest. I had discovered a whole different kind of music. My friend, Ryan (RIP), had me listen to an artist called AFX (Aphex Twin). The music was odd and unique. I had heard other forms of electronica before, but nothing like that. I wanted to know more! I needed to know how he made such awesome music. I went online, that day, and looked up the information I needed. I found a program called Fruity Loops, with a free download. I was in heaven! I was popping out experimental, electronica songs left and right. Trying new things and creating new styles. I started listening to Industrial, Ambient, and Trip Hop forms of electronic music, hoping to be inspired. Then I discovered Trance. I loved the complex bass-lines and the hard, constant, bass drum beat. I had found the style that I had been searching for. Even though it wasn’t my own, I new I could make it unique with a few tweaks and an ambient style. At age 18 or 19, sorry its a blur, I came out with a song called "Alien". Not the version I have posted, but still a good sounding song. I made a CD and started handing out copies hoping to get a response, but nothing ever came of it. I needed something else...
My small music career came to a stand still in September 2005. I was now a father and everything changed. To make a long story short, my relationship with the mother didn’t last very long, but I made sure to get joint custody of my son, Micah. I got a small one bedroom apartment in Salem, NH, in 2007. I was working a lot and trying to pay my way through life, and support my son. I finally scrounged up enough money to by another computer, since the other one, a shitty PC, decided to die on me. I went out and bought a 20" Apple I-Mac with Logic Pro 8. I was back in the game! Whenever I had a chance I was on my computer making more music. I’ve since updated my computer, and have a few new releases, including the new version of "Alien".Enjoy!
"FLASHBACK"
In 2006 I found a band, online, that I used to go see at shows, when I was a lot younger, Eulogy XL. They had a mixture of Big Beat and a Metal sound that I was drawn to. I made friends with the members and started going to watch their practices. I got to talking with Phill Naylor, their lead singer, who was into making and producing his own music as well. He helped me with a number of things. One thing is that he got me away from evil PCs and turned me onto Apple. He introduced me to Logic and Pro-Tools. In which I made my choice to get later on when I bought my new computer. In 2006, Phill also gave me a shot by, signing me to his Indie Label, Over The Counter Beats, out of Boston, MA.
