FeedonSound
is the creative outlet for the mind of
Nico Lombard.
An outlet from many influences, past and present - a sonic fusion of no particular genre.
Some History:
I was born into a musically talented family. As a kid I enjoyed melodies and lyrics in music, but also loved the vibration of bass, high end and all the layers in between.
When I was about 13, I was introduced to Gerald, a friend of a friend. The first day at Gerald's house, his mother led the way to his room, and as I walked in he was playing some early Depeche Mode tune, to a programmed drum beat and bass line, on a small Casio keyboard.
At that moment I knew making music was something I wanted to pursue. We became good friends, and he taught me the basics of music theory, how to play keyboard and piano, and later guitar. I spent every free moment learning and practising as much as I could, while writing my own music and lyrics.
Later, in college, I joined a 4 piece band. I played keyboards and backing vocals. We played a few gigs. Later that year I met a guy who's father owned a recording studio, he offered me a job and a week later I quit college to pursue this new exciting career.
In the studio I composed and produced music for radio, television and a few theatre plays. The recording studio became my second home, and in my free time, I worked on my own material. And so I had the opportunity to record some of the music and lyrics I wrote back when I was in my early teens.
In my early twenties, I became interested in hypnotic, tribal and psychedelic sounds. This was in the early nineties, a time when the underground rave culture in South Africa came to life. I was discovering a new musical language, not one of lyrics and melodies, but the language of the sound itself. I was fascinated with the powerful messages in sound, even without lyrics, rhythm and melody.
At Present:
FeedonSound was conceived in 2000. I have since produced music for television and worked on various remix projects.
Foremost, FeedonSound still is a reflection of all the fears, tears, laughs, people, trips, sounds and songs of my life.
