About Me

Elon Robin Dixon By way of Winston-Salem, NC, is a New York City based vocalist, lyricist, composer, actress and dancer. As a songwriter Elon considers her story telling style to be a blend of jazz messages with folk and soul, kendred to the jazz genre of "Freedom Songs," plus songs of love and life through imagery. Also at present Elon does work vocally in the ongoing progressive projects with jazz vibraphonist/composer/arranger Cecilia Smith. (Visit the Cecila Smith myspace.) Elon has performed as the featured vocalist with Smith at the Hartford Jazz Festival, Musikfest, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, The Burlington Discover Jazz Festival in Vermont, and The Kennedy Center Mary Lou Williams Tenth Anniversary Women In Jazz Festival. She has recorded and written with other jazz artists such as, Fusion Pianist Jeff Lorber, Jazz Pianist Andy Milne, Jazz Bassist Kenji Hino and Cecilia Smith, and she has performed in Tokyo, Japan at jazz venues Sweet Basil, The Tableaux Lounge, and in Sorgono, Italy on the island of Sardania for the annual Ichnusa Festival. From musical theater, Elon has traveled internationally in shows such as, "Hair," "Jesus Christ Super Star," "Bubbling Brown Sugar," and "West Side Story," and has toured the U.S. in the original musical production of "Sweet Spot," which featured actor Clifton Davis, of TV sit-com "Amen," original "Saturday Night Live" cast member, actor Garrett Morris and singer songwriter, producer, actor, R&B vocalist Montell Jordan. Upcoming, Elon can be seen as the character "Tanya" in the soon to be released independent film, "The Stoop," and will be scheduling to perform jazz gigs locally.... soon to be posted...
