About Me
Nymphea Aurora is a Dutch band that was started under the name of Phantasmagoria as a symphonic darkwave act by guitarist and driving force André de Heus in 2000. André started writing and recording the demo My Dark Domain, which was released in 2002. At that point, André only played the synthesizer and there were only guitars in one song.
After this first demo, the music quickly grew to a more Doom/Death style, and André decided to search for musicians to form a band. In 2003 they came together to practice for the first time, and after that they continued as a band.
Because the name Phantasmagoria was already used by some bands, and because they felt it didn’t represent the music anymore, they decided to change their name to Nymphea Aurora. The first gigs were played, not all that successful, but the music began gaining some shape. At the end of December 2004, a rehearsal promo was recorded, called promo 2005. This promo is not for sale and was only used for promotion.
In February 2005, Nymphea Aurora entered the studio again, to record their first demo, called Misery... After some line-up changes and a huge delay, this demo was finally released in January 2006. With a new keyboard player and a new drummer, Nymphea Aurora grew musically. With the demo released and with a stable line-up, they started playing live again. At the end of 2006, long-time guitar player Patrick left the band, and was replaced by Joyce.
Currently, Nymphea Aurora is trying to play live as much as possible, as well as writing songs for a new demo. After various line-up changes, Nymphea Aurora has grown both musically and as friends. This has already put them on bills with bands like Ataraxie, Reverend Bizarre, Syrach, Rotting Christ, Skyclad, Malevolent Creation, Officium Triste, The Gates of Slumber, Shadowlord and Saturnus.
If you live around Holland, be sure to check them out some day!
